An 8-5 season really wouldn’t be THAT much worse than what we’ve done the past couple years no?

It would indicate that we were more than capable of going undefeated but were woefully unprepared to play to start the season.
I always want us to win every game, but the ship has sailed on this season being a complete disappointment. The only thing that changes my feelings is the last game; lose that and it goes from a disappointment to a disaster.

to me the 10 win applies if you beat 10 good teams. A couple cupcakes or ACC cellar dwellers would not be added in

you play 12. If you man up scheduling and perform you can with a decent ACC.

Boston College Syracuse North Carolina Troy Furman Florida State
That's 6 teams on the schedule that are "cupcake/ACC cellar dwellar".
You are saying if we went 12-0 this year, we'd only have 6 real wins.
How about 2018? We went 15-0 and won the Natty. That included wins against: Furman Georgia Southern Louisville (0-8 ACC) FSU (3-5 ACC) Duke (3-5 ACC)
That was the only 10 win team we have had, apparently!

Alabama and Clemson CFP rivalry was peak college football . the talent levels of those teams hasn't been matched since
noone was beating Clemson or Alabama but themselves those years

Yep...but the schedule is the schedule. No team anywhere has 10 opponents on their schedule that aren't cupcakes and/or bottom dwellers.
Even Oklahoma this year which is getting tons of press for their schedule, they play 5 teams that "wouldn't count" based on this asinine criteria.
Illinois State Temple Kent St South Carolina - conference cellar dwellar Auburn - conference cellar dwellar

I hope we do. Love winning. But imo wouldn't change the fact big changes need to occur. As cbprof posted. We all love our Tigers, win or lose. By and large, what I hear from fans that don't even know what tigernet is, is belief that we can and should be a perennial powerhouse. This season really does not change their opinion on the fact we haven't been a powerhouse in 5 years. That's the complaint I hear from folks outside of here.
If we had to play your typical sec schedule the last 5 years with the product we've had, Dabo would have exhausted all of his equity and we'd be looking to change our coach.

If this season were a re-build after having lost a lot of talent the year before, then you can hope ending the season winning out would build momentum and confidence. Unfortunately, we're going to have a lot of holes and question marks next year no matter what happens. These next 4 games are truly going to be the "old college try."

Also do you really think going 7-5 in the regular season then beating a mediocre

G5 school in a 2nd tier bowl game is about the same as going 9-3, winning the ACCCG, and then losing a playoff game?

Without the playoff money it's not the same.
Beating a G5 team in a low tier bowl and beating most ACC teams in Charlotte -The same

there's only ONE possible similarity b/w 2024 season and 2025.....

We really beat NOBODY in either season.
2024 1-4 vs P4 teams w/ 8+ wins 7-0 vs P4 teams w/ LESS than 8 wins
2025 1 "decent WIN" potential vs P4 team w/ 8+ wins left on schedule......tonight vs Louisville
NONE of our other P4 wins/possible wins can get to 8+ wins this year.

There is no getting around the fact that this season has been a disappointment. You start the preseason ranked in the top 5 and lose home gaames to Syracuse & Duke? At most finish 500 in conference play and probably not ranked in the top 25? Don't get me wrong my favorite saying when coming close to the end of my workouts is always....." Finish up strong ". In this case let's just be honest and call the season for what it is. Disappointing and below expectations!!! That aside............GO TIGERS!!! BEAT LOUISVILLE!!!

The problem is that this year was supposed to be THE year:
-The year that reversed our last few years of decline. -The year that we returned to elite status. -The year that Dabo silenced his critics.
Those things haven't happened. Instead, we are worse.
Huge disappointment, even if we rally and win a few games to close the season.
If we are being honest, 2026 isn't shaping up to be any better. In fact, it will likely be worse.

Can someone explain to me why they believe we will be better next year?
I really honestly hope we finish 8-5 this year. If we do, there is absolutely zero possibility we will have a better record next season.
It will take many years before we field a formidable, championship caliber team. I just hope CDS is the man that makes it happen. If he isn’t, it will be even longer.
