Tiger Stuck in "Gamecock" Country --- UGH!
Dec 27, 2012, 5:26 PM

Hey guys.
I hate to admit it, but I live relatively close to the South Carolina campus in Columbia, SC. I have tried and tried to find a good sports radio station broadcasting Clemson oriented material, but the only station I have found is a Gamecock station.
Don't get me wrong, the station is quality, and they even have some Tiger Talent behind the microphone, but it is, of course, so obviously South Carolina biased.
My question... my plea for help... is:
Can anyone direct me to a Clemson sports station, if there is one?

That sucks
I guess I'll have to continue subjecting myself to the ridiculous banter of Gamecock fans just to hear some sports radio...

Do you know if you can tune anything in on the I Heart Radio app?
And if so, what station would you suggest?

Just search Talk Sports Radio or 104.9 WCCP. I travel to Cola several times a month and have to start using the app to listen when I get close to Newberry.

you can get a smartphone and tune into the 104.9 WCCP ap.....you have to sift through Gamecock idiots there too, but much less.
I've been there, my man - lived in Cola for 10 years (two different stints 86-90 and 2002-2005). Not pleasant. At least though, we won the football game 9 of the 10 years I was there. Made it MUCH easier.

The thing is, the broadcasters are quality... great talent, and they are generally unbiased... but the Gamecock fans that call in... omg... make me wanna rip my radio out of my car.

Corey Miller is horrible and he butchers the English language. Most of the ones on am 56 are USC homers...Teddy Hefner has gotten to be more of a homer since USC is winning. He was bashing Clemson this morning with Dr. Rick...please let me stay out of jail Sanford.....

Right now I'm stuck listening to 107.5 "The Game"... imagine that, SC fans using the work "Game".
I wonder what kind of response they would have gotten if they called it "The ####". Lol.

Sounds like somebody needs to get one started then. But if there isn't a Clemson oriented station in Clemson, then what about the one that the other guys listed.... 104.9 WCCP? Seems to me like it is pretty Clemson oriented, at least from what I saw on the website.

It is the Clemson Flagship station

But about half the talk is nogamecoot talk. It'd work for your purpose, if they are broadcasting.
Look for an Atlanta station that is broadcasting it, the internet feed will most likely be better.
There is a free app called tune in radio it works pretty good. youll just have to find the correct staton ahead of time.

There is no such thing as "Gamecock Country"…...

Lived in the Columbia area my whole life, 33 years, and never saw that many gamecock fans until the past 3 years. We beat them next year and you will see a lot of so called shamecock fans go back into hiding and/or stop buying and wearing shamecock clothes. You can still see a whole lot more cars with IPTAY stickers in the Columbia area than shamecock club stickers on cars. It's easy to buy 10 dollar t shirts, 5 dollar decal, 7 dollar car flags. It takes a whole lot more to give to the school you pull for and actually go to the games.

Yeah, I have noticed that too. I guess they forget 0-11, 63-17, five in a row, and a CURRENT series record of 65-41-4 in favor of Clemson.
It's pretty sad when you cant even get close to .500 against your rival. But, like Dabo said, Carolina is in Chapel Hill, USC is in California, and the real University of South Carolina is in Clemson

in te Midlands of SC - we have to live with it --- or as I do most of the time - turn it off. It isn't going to change. Most of the sports show guys are coot grads anyway. Just ignore them.
