Rather than possibly blocking 2 pt shots we are late to the 3 pt line and simply "wave" at the shooter.

The same way every team is. Offenses are designed to get 3 point shots and if you have any kind of inside game there is no way to cover both. If a team makes shots they win, it they don't they lose and basketball has been that way.

but diving at their legs, without touching them ofcourse, gets in their head and causes missed shots.
