Watson vs. Henry Heisman convo

Regarding the Heisman: I think that it has become a little unclear what the trophy is really for. Sometimes it seems to be the best player on the best team, other times it is when a guy just seems to be by far the best player. I look at it this way for this year. Up until the point where LSU collapsed, Fournette (despite LSU being overrated) rightfully sat atop the Heisman watch uncontested. Had he had good games in losses to Bama and Arky, I think he would still lead by a closer margin. However, now that he has fallen and others have too, (Boykin, Mcaffrey) the field is more crowded. The frontrunners should be Henry, Watson, Elliott then maybe Mcaffrey, Boykin, Mayfield, Coleman. The reason I believe Watson should be alone out front is that he is by far the best player on our team. The team ebbs and flows with him and how he plays. He for the most part has played outstanding all year and with a predominantly young and inexperienced OL and WR corps. Henry is just a massive back hitting massive holes behind arguably the best run blocking OL in the country.
Stats Watson: comp 216 att 308 % 70.1 Yards 2593 TD 23 Int 8 Rating 160.3 Rushes 108 Yards 598 Avg 5.5 TD 5
Henry: Att 240 Yards 1458 Avg 6.1 TD19 Rec 9 Yards 69
Watson has 3551 yards of total offense and is responsible for 28 TDs and has thrown all 23 TDs for Clemson this year Henry has 1527 and 19 TDs
Who is more deserving?

Apples and oranges comparing total yards and TD's from a QB to a back. From the first game I saw Henry run, I thought the kid had something special. Orange glasses off, it's really a tossup. Could Alabama be where they're at without Henry, probably not. Could Clemson be where we're at without DW4? Definitely not.
By that metric I'd go with Watson.

There are a dozen backs in the country who would have simila

r numbers to Henry, running behind that OL, including Gallman. Watson is way more important to his team. If think Dalvin Cook is a better running back than Henry.

I agree Cook is probably the best back and way more important to his team. Without his hamstring and ankle injuries he would have unreal numbers. He is still a beast and should warrant a trip but they have lost despite him having good games which I think is somewhat (right or wrong) a turnoff to voters.

Henry isn't a receiver but I agree that it is apples and oranges. Nevertheless, you have to do some sort of comparison and Watson has statistically contributed a lot more to Clemson's success than Henry has. 100% Clemson isn't #1 or undefeated without Watson. Alabama is probably still only a 1 loss team without Henry. Derrick Henry is doing the same thing Alabama running backs have been doing since Glen Coffee. So when he is replaced, another Bama back will fill the void.

Henry @ Bama = E.Smith with Dallas Cowboys

You could put pretty much any RB behind that line. Same argument as the put Barry Sanders behind the Cowboys O-line in the 90's. This is why Alabama RB's are busts in the NFL. They spend 3 or 4 years running through huge gaps, then can't do it in the pro's with small windows that close quickly.

I definitely wouldn't call Mark Ingram a bust.
Other than Trent Richardson, which bama RB's have been busts?

Ingram is doing pretty well in the NFL . Not defending Alabama's strengths ,but this is what they do to teams that don't have the DL and LB strength to stop it .

How does Watson have 3551 yards of total offense? 2593+598=3191
