Watching tajh's film

Jun 17, 2014, 11:18 AM

From 2013 georgia, 2012 lsu, and 2012 scar i hink people give him too much hate. He made roughly 3 bad throws a game but he kept us in those games. He was scrambling for his life all the time, had no time in the pocket (scar 2012). He made something out of nothing many times with his extending the plays and scrambles. He wasnt perfect and had issues checking down but people really gave him too much hate in the draft process.

We will see whether or not he can make his reads faster in the NFL - let's hope he does for his sake.

Cole Stoudt doesn't have Boyd's arm strength, but makes his reads faster than Boyd. I'm not sure why that prevented Stoudt from starting more. Anyway - time will tell.

I think it's more CONCERN than HATE.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you think Stoudt should've started over Boyd?

Jun 17, 2014, 11:41 AM

Don't you think he didn't start because he wasn't our best option?

Re: So you think Stoudt should've started over Boyd?

Jun 17, 2014, 11:48 AM

I think he should have been given the chance to start in SOME games (SCST, etc).

Honestly - and I'm not one of the coaches so they have way more input to make decisions with - but from what I've seen of Cole Stoudt, he has always impressed me. But to answer your question - I think Cole did some things better than Boyd and YES, I think he should have started at least a couple of games to see how he performed. It doesn't matter what I think, they get paid the millions to make these decisions.

But we will see in August.

I always wanted Reggie Merriwether to start too, and Bowden wouldn't start him until Duane Coleman was hurt. Bowden was actually forced to make a good decision. I was right about RM, and it's possible I am right about Stoudt. Like I said - we will see.

You don't start the backup when your starter is healthy

Jun 17, 2014, 12:27 PM

and playing well. E-V-E-R

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not going to get into this Boyd/Stoudt thing but my two

Jun 17, 2014, 12:02 PM [ in reply to So you think Stoudt should've started over Boyd? ]

cents worth is: if I wre the coach, Boyd is my starter! But, I would've put Stoudt into more games than he was.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Stoudt has actually played quite a lot

Jun 17, 2014, 2:04 PM

He played almost the entire game against SC State and also played a lot against Wake Forest. He probably could've played more against Citadel, but we were trying to let Boyd get a record.

I do think Stoudt can be a pretty good QB, but I have a hard time understanding the mindset of people who think Stoudt should've started while Boyd was here, or who believer Stoudt will be better than Boyd based on what he's done so far.

Yes, Stoudt probably sees the field better and has been very accurate when he's played, but very few of his snaps have been during important times in games and he's been very lucky not to be picked off a few times. He also has struggled on deep throws.

Maybe in the NFL he will have an OL that can give him some better protection.

Bottom line is Tajh is a "winner".***

He gets very little hate

Jun 17, 2014, 11:38 AM

But the little hate he gets after how well he played for us is still too much hate.

Re: He gets very little hate- he shouldnt get any hate

Jun 17, 2014, 12:23 PM

I dont see him get much here and I suspect what there is reaaly isnt from true tiger fans. I'm sure anyone with anything negative to say that is a CU fan is just frustrated by how well we did with all but the coots in recent years

I've read a few too many posts on here pointing out

Jun 17, 2014, 12:29 PM

all of the negative aspects of Boyd's game and claiming that Stoudt will be a better QB.

Re: I've read a few too many posts on here pointing out

Jun 17, 2014, 2:10 PM

The posts claiming to know that Stoudt will be a better QB, especially the ones who think that because of criticisms of Boyd, are pretty laughable. It's totally ridiculous that people would feel the need to say something like that just a few months after a guy who threw for more than 3800 yards and 30 TDs three years in a row leaves the program.

We don't have any real evidence that Stoudt will do what Boyd did, even if him being in the program for three years already and peforming servicably when he's been in make us confident. Stoudt's also going to have to deal with a bunch of unproven WRs, and two of his first three starts will be on the road against elite opponents.

Boyd is gone - it's a done deal and is history. I really don't care because Dabo has to make the decisions and he has all the necessary input to make those. He has to live with EVERY decision he makes. If Boyd was his man, then he rode him until the end, and nobody is complaining about that nor are they hating on Boyd. Yeh - Boyd made mistakes, and lots of them. He kept teams in the game with some of his ### plays, but managed to win the games with his abilities. Unfortunately, Boyd seemed to fail in some critical situations - be it the OLine's fault - or Boyd trying to make something out of nothing. He was a competitor and everyone recognized that. He also represented CLEMSON in the best possible way. ALL players make mistakes - even the best. His were just more visible. I don't get where people feel like anyone is hating on Boyd.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He did make a few what? Throws each game

Jun 19, 2014, 5:17 PM

He also had a bad offensive line besides Thomas (yes im going there). Nuk and Sammy dropped a ball or two per game, particularly in the flats and on slants. Now they are better than Tajh (Nuk/Sammy) but he is underrated.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not his bad throws that got him the hate..

Jun 17, 2014, 1:10 PM

It was his "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING" throws. Ex. Orange Bowl. Could've ran it for the first easily and it'd been first and goal. Got cute tried to flip it over the LB and it got picked off.

Re: It's not his bad throws that got him the hate..

that one was bad. fortunately it didnt amount to a problem ultimately

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wish we ALL never had a "what were you thinking moment"

Jun 19, 2014, 6:16 PM [ in reply to It's not his bad throws that got him the hate.. ]

numerous times in our life. Only being human.

I think Clemson better find someone to play QB. Stoudt is a fine young man but not an ACC starting QB. Problem is, where are the options?

Coots getting nervous????***

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Heres your problem

Jun 17, 2014, 3:52 PM

They (meaning "some" CLEMSON fans)

Question...Is Tajh Clemson's best QB ever?
Answer...No.
--------------
but what they won't admit, they're probably sucking
sour grapes because "HE" didn't beat SC.

Problem is, he CAN'T beat SC.....THEY, have to.

No doubt, Boyd is by far the best we've ever had here.
And its not even close, that's right.

Better than:
Fuller
Jordan-lol!!!
Williams
Greene
Dantzler
and yes Charlie.

thanks BOYD, best ever!

D.Watson?

Stay tune ;)
