He could not put weight on it for four months.
Shared much of his experience with me since Mama G broke her kneecap four weeks ago.
I don't know how he managed living by himself going thru that. Mama G takes full advantage of Papa G. LOL.

I heard from Kelli and zettner last night. Definitely unexpected news. So much so that Mumbette was looking at me as I was reading it, and could tell something was wrong.
So long, good buddy, and I hope we all are as well liked as Bruce was.

Chick messaged me last night and told me and many of us tried to contact as many lungers as we could. It was hard because I honestly feel like we were all numb so please forgive us if we missed you, it wasn’t intentional. It feels like a gut punch and I honestly can’t believe it’s real.
First time I met him he gave me an Irish car bomb and then some snooty beers because he was the king of beer snobs.
Celtic, you were a truly cool dude with a great big heart. May we all strive to be liked as much as you were. We’re gonna miss the h311 out of you my friend. RIP buddy.

we only met in person twice but we kept in touch through T-mail and he checked on me often after my wife died. Just last week he checked on me again.
I'm shocked and saddened. he knew how to enjoy good food and drink and was always a calming voice in this zoo.
RIP Celtic - you can swap stories with your Yankee old-timers in person now.

difficult to process. I don't really know what to say. Or think. I wrote this and shared it on a Cardiac Athletes page I'm a member of, not really a tribute to Celtic but sharing my thoughts with others who probably understand them:
When you hear of an acquaintance dying suddenly of a heart attack, what is your first reaction? Mine has really become anger. Before there is any sadness or sympathy I get pissed off. Not so much at the person who passed as much as just being angry in general (although some may be directed at the person). It just seems avoidable and preventable, although I’m also looking at it through the filters of my own experience. I paid attention to symptoms that I could have easily ignored, my doctor told me afterwards that I very easily could have been one of those who passed away unexpectedly without any warning. But I would have had warning, I would have just chosen to ignore it. But I also understand that everyone may not.
I was embarrassed when I received my diagnosis in the ER. While I wasn’t considered high risk, I had enough unhealthy habits to believe that I had brought this on myself. When I sought medical treatment I thought about how stupid I would feel be to go in and be told it was nothing. But better to be stupid than dead. But I guess when I receive the news I imagine that person having been stupid and now dead (which is unfair). But it’s much more anger directed at the universe than that person. Maybe part of the anger is based in guilt. I made the decision in the hospital that not only was I going to make changes to improve my health, but I was going to be very public about it. Maybe I could encourage others to make changes or recognize the warning symptoms and seek treatment? While this acquaintance that died yesterday was a more casual acquaintance (primarily online), he was aware of my story and message. So in some ways it feels like a failure on my part. Once again there is so much swirling around in my head that is difficult to put to words. It just sucks.
I saw this morning where someone posted the last text that they received from him a few days before his death. It was a short exchange, just a quick catching up with each other. My friend’s reply: “I’m still above ground so that’s good. Not going to be running any marathons though lol.” I am above ground and I am running a marathon this week. I started running after my heart attack, because of my heart attack. I was able to make it a positive in my life. I often think of those I’ve known who passed away when I run, the list keeps getting longer. It also makes me thankful that I’m not on other’s lists (guilt again?). It makes me appreciate my life more (more guilt?).
Bruce was a top notch good guy and a beer connoisseur. The few times I saw him in person he would have beer for me to try, good beer. Great beer! Saturday after my race, Bruce and I will share one more beer.

Bruce was THE MAN
Dec 7, 2021, 11:18 AM
|
|
Bruce invited me to a tailgate in STI and then started introducing me to everyone by their handle.....I thought I was in Heaven. He was kind and gentle and had some good humor to him. His random texts always made me smile.
The last time I saw his face, I was leaving a tailgate (hammered) and my wife was driving and I stuck my head out the window and yelled, "I AM GOING TO MAKE BABIES!!" I thought he was going to cry he was laughing so hard. Everyone once in a while I would get a text from him asking if I was "still headed to make babies".
Sad day for Clemson Nation, sad day for Tigernet........

even if he was a Yankees fan.
Seriously though, the few interactions I had with him on this board were always pleasant and amicable. He was always warm and friendly with me and I never left a conversation with him without feeling better or happier. From what I've read from those that knew him personally, he seems to have been that same guy in real life, too. That's a rare gift in this day and age and I will miss that about him.
