Dabo wants everyone to understand what drives him. Understanding that is one of the ways he influences players, fans and anyone else who takes time to really listen. He is one of the best ever IMO at using his platform to try to do good things and help others see the benefit of doing good. With that drive he would have been successful at anything he did and if he can instill that in his players that makes him a success. Thanks Coach for all you do. You’re the GOAT!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!

I agree that he makes a point with explaining that just bc your family had heavy disadvantages when you were coming up through your years of being educated, that if you tell yourself that you're not going to let or allow those disadvantages keep you down, and apply everything within and around you to get over those hurdles, that it can be done, but it's not going to be easy, but anything that is gotten easy, it don't have a lot of value to be placed on it. It's easier to feel sorry for yourself and lay down, than it is to put in the time and hard work that it takes to overcome a bad start....

Httis story is such a great story of overcoming the odds and being successful. He wants to pass it on to his players. We are so fortunate that things worked out that he is at Clemson, and we get to enjoy the ride. I hope it lasts for a while, but he as done so much in such a short time that his legacy is pretty much set. If it can get better than this, we're in for historic things. GO TIGERS!

Yes it was Pat Forde. Ironically the two lowest graded hires that year have won national championships. I’m not saying Chizik was a great hire, but Forde gave him an F grade and Dabo D+. I just found that funny.

When he says that he is hated because he is at Clemson he
is subtly talking about the fans of the teams that he beats
on a yearly basis. Alabama fans hate him because, oh well
we know why. Bottom line, Clemson Nation love him.

His first year as HC when he walked around campus during Homecoming week giving food to students working on floats and chatting with students. I could tell that he understood what made Clemson special, and could tell that he was genuine. Dabo IS Clemson!

Well Hope, personally I believed in Dabo when hired, I just didn't know if he would be given enough time to learn to be a HC at Clemson bc of the Tommy West ordeal before TB. But all anybody had to do was read about Dabo to know and realize that he was a very smart young man that would work his butt off to be successful!!!

Agree with all you say - allorange !! Knew he was smart and hard working - just didn’t know if he could translate those qualities into being a successful head coach without some experience at coordinator or head coach at some level ... Now I know - he is certainly an exceptional coach and an exceptional person - and imho one of the very very few that could successfully make that transition !! -">

but I can honestly say that I & my family were rooting for Dabo to get the HC job while he was the interim & happy when TDP gave him the job. No specific reasons - I just liked what I saw on the field, liked the way he rallied that team & salvaged that season, liked the way he engaged the fan base & student body, & knew the respect he had for Clemson & our football tradition.
There was never any point when I doubted that it was the right decision, even after the 6-7 record in '10. Even then, I was impressed by his leadership, impressed by his adaptability as a coach, & especially impressed by his recruiting. Going into the '11 season, we all figured that the record needed to improve. But by the time that September ended (wins over Auburn, Florida State & Virginia Tech), I think we all knew we had the right coach.
