Thinks of Clemson staff and how he is learning defensive schemes and how to improve. So glad that he is here!

In spite of some of the comments here over the years the people in hoops alway say good things about Brad and the staff and their teaching and coaching abilities. Maybe since things are looking up we will see more appreciation of them

I doubt it as folks are tied to - invested in their preferred narrative.

Can you not see you cause the issue to exist? You always make remarks, yet nobody has said anything negative about this team other than they are optimistic and hesitant, and that is a fair assessment. Quit dividing with your every post and you will see if you choose to open your eyes.

to criticize everything about the basketball program, especially Brownell.

They never say anything positive. When things are going well, they don't post. It's really pathetic.

In my short time here you're the one that seems to cause the most division. Heck last week you took a slight shot at Cliff Ellis and streeeeeeetched the truth big time in doing so. You seem to be really bitter.

What did I say about Cliff Ellis last week?

You say I took a shot at him and stretched the truth big time.

Post it here and I'm happy to discuss it.

In this thread you knew what you were doing.

You were downplaying Coach Ellis's accomplishments (hence I said you took a slight shot).

Your post stretched the truth by trying to fool the masses with the whole went to our first and only Elite 8 a few years before Ellis arrived. That Elite 8 appearance was 5 years before Ellis arrived. You were trying to make it out like he inherited a decent program. Our W-L record the 3 years prior to Ellis was 14-14, 11-20, and 14-14.

A record around .500 is a decent program.

Not great, and not horrible.

The point is that we had success, as well as some super talented players, not long before he arrived.

It seems that you want to portray him as an amazing coach who inherited a horrible program, so I’m sure I can’t say anything to change your mind.

His tenure at Clemson was solid but not great. I think he improved the program some. He won 58% of his games overall. We were above .500 in 7 of his 10 seasons. We made 2 NCAA Tournaments in his 10 years, going 1-2 in those games.

Our ACC regular season championship in 1990 was his crowning achievement here.

His best attribute was being a great recruiter. Grant, Campbell, Davis, Whitney, and Sharone were all great players for us who played in the NBA.

Unfortunately, he only won 38% of his ACC games. We had to vacate our Sweet 16 wins in 1990 due to NCAA sanctions, which was a huge negative during his tenure.

We really declined after 89-90. The four subsequent years we were 11-17, 14-14, 17-13, and 18-16. And that was in an era when our nonconference schedule was generally pretty easy.

Cliff is a nice guy. I appreciate all he did for Clemson. He loved (and still loves) Clemson. I wish him the best in his retirement.

I am the cause of nothing other than responding to comments. In this case, the comment was about the disconnect between the basketball community (coaches, players and media) and some of our posters in terms of the level of respect for our coach. If you disagree with my post then perhaps you can provide a comment about the topic rather than placing misdirected blame. The other really good option is to put me on ignore or simply scroll past if you have nothing to say on the topic at hand.
