abdominal pain he is in. I even went so far as to fill out an online request for an appointment at the Mayo Clinic is Jacksonville, the closest one to us. Of course, when I called Blue Cross / Blue Shield, who we have his Obamacare insurance plan with, was told that since that is out of state, it would be out of network, and therefore not covered at all. So, to take him there, 401K will take a big, perhaps fatal hit. If so, so be it. I have to get him some actual help. All these South Carolina docs are about as useful as a chastity belt in a whorehouse. I wish I could sue them all for just plain incompetence.

I've heard a lot of ads for QC Kinetix.
https://qckinetix.com/
Might be worth a call. I don't know much about them or have eve used them, but a phone call might explain it better.

Talk to a financial advisor about your options for financing care and what you can do to protect your own assets and your sons. I imagine the Mayo clinic has a a financial aid office too.
I'm sure you've explored, but I knew someone with gastroparesis who ended up being type 1 diabetic. Treating that helped tremendously.
Also, play around with some AI tools and symptoms. It's not medical advice, but it does a great job at least giving you search terms and leads and ideas to bring up. For example, my daughter had strep throat, but her symptoms showed up in a rash. Doctor (MD) looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a strep test of the rash. They swabbed the rash. Turns out it was strep. I got the info from playing around with AI.
Don't pretend to be a doc, but it's an incredible technology that makes researching efficient. Grok and ChatGPT are two leading techs that you can communicate with.
Just some ideas, my heart goes out to you. Hoping you find relief.

the ER for imaging in order to confirm. CharlestonTiger15 might be able to provide more insight into whether during non-flare ups if it looks nominal and you could miss the diagnosis.

Other than retained food or bile reflux I wouldn’t expect to necessarily find anything abnormal on EGD w gastroparesis.
It’s a notoriously difficult disease to treat. There is no cure. I’ve had some success doing sleeve gastrectomies for it, it’s known to decrease gastric transit time and far less morbid than a total.
