Trump was on the ground and covered by 2 SS agents (who were on the platform and came running from behind) within 2 seconds of him grasping his ear. He was on the ground and covered before the SS agents came onto he stage up the steps.

I think he is asking how someone brought it in.

Law enforcement usually does a good job checking everyone at entrance.

a free country, open carry and all that. Should be able to carry a gun in, it makes everyone safer.

I can give you several ways someone could have gotten a weapon inside but I won't give anyone any ideas. Think about it and you can figure out a few ways.

A rifle, depending on model, can have a long range.

A skilled shooter, possessing a quality rifle, high quality bullets, and having calibrated the rifle’s sights using that same lot# of bullets and having carefully measured the distance between his site and the target site, could make the shot from outside of the rally grounds.

The shooter was across the way on a rooftop.

Check the bbc interview of a guy outside the rally. They saw a shooter on the roof and started screaming at the cops and secret service. They didn’t do anything. Then he shot 5-6 times before getting shot in the head. Secret service should’ve had those roofs cleared.

Trump was hit. He survived, but it was likely luck and not the SS that saved him.

Until I see more, I don't give them a passing grade at all.

The immediate SS did a selfless and excellent job, potentially being willing to take a bullet for Trump.

However, there was a serious failure for allowing a shooter with a rifle to get on a roof outside of the rally in range of Trump.

The BBC interview is remarkable. Someone was negligent at best, at worst this is troubling, but this should never have happened.

The grade is an F for those responsible for securing the immediate adjacent area. B- for not dragging Trump off the stage.

D- . Their job is to be prepared and secure the area, not just react.***

Well, the shooter was on a rooftop that had a CLEAR line of sight to the stage. They didn't secure it.

I give them an F.

When the bullet missed blowing off his head by inches, the SS reacted with an A+ effort. The fact that a bullet missed blowing off his head by inches has to be factored into the final grade.

The guys on the podium did what they were supposed to.

The performance of the covering detail was shameful. An untrained kid with a rifle he probably got from Bass Pro Shop somehow got within 150 yards of the freaking president on the closest low roof to the stage, and was allowed to get off five shots.

There's a guy - it's actually several guys - in Ukraine they call the Ghost of Bakhmut. It's a sniper team that have 558 confirmed kills, most of them with Barrett M107A1 sniper rifle chambered in .50 BMG and Barrett MRAD's chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. The one that actually has the callsign "Ghost" has apparently taken targets from as far away as 1.5 miles out.

The Secret Service is going to have to seriously up their game, like, bigly. The whole world just saw how easy that was.
