Unecessary Roughness......My Asteroid

NOTE - CORRECTED from Late Hit Because Noodle Got Butt Hurt.
Grabbed this off OSU board. Shuey takes maybe 1/2 step and form tackles almost perfectly to and oblique target. American Conf. Refs are a bunch of little girls.

It's also much easier to block Crawford

When you grab his shoulder pads. We should teach that technique.

It wasn't just Crawford

There were numerous times in the game when they showed our DL after a play they were stuffing shoulder pads back into their jersey.

I am curious to OSU stance on the hit. I doubt they saw it

as a late hit either? The only thing that could be called, and maybe was, was him driving him into the dirt with his shoulder. I think its a bs call either way.

My best friend is a Buckeye born and raised...

And he texted me in the third quarter and told me that if Clemson won they should claim two victories, one over TOSU and one over the refs. It was that blatantly obvious. And after the game he said "the refs were the best players we had in that game"
He texted me specifically after the Shuey hit and said "I guess it's a penalty to tackle Braxton huh"
Pretty sad if a lifelong TOSU fan recognizes and agrees with the fact that the officiating was horribly biased in favor of the Buckeyes.

Half of what we were taught to do is now illegal.

Oklahoma board drill is no longer good training. Blocking linebacker with helmet in sternum and pop it up in chin. Tackle by going up through runner and drive him into the ground Oh for the old days. Of course, we only got water by sucking a wet and salty towel!

He didn't get called for a late hit, he got called for

driving his shoulder into the QB as he hit the ground. Still a bogus call, because there's no such rule in college football. There is in the NFL, and in the NFL it would've been a penalty. It wasn't for being late, though.

The call has nothing to do with it being a late hit

The timing was fine
The initiation of the tackle was fine (not too high or low).
However, following through with the tackle, they see Shuey breaking his fall only with his shoulder buried in Miller's chest. He didn't attempt to outstretch his hands to make it appear that he was trying to help break his own fall. I can live with that call, but I LIKE the attitude of our LB. We haven't had that kind of mentality in a while.

Dood, there is not a darn thing wrong with that tackle.

That includes the follow through/landing. To expect the LB to brace himself in order to decrease the force of landing on the QB, that's a stretch.
Not even close to being unsportsmanlike in my eyes. Virtually a textbook tackle in my opinion.

these penalties amounted to us losing the game...but it didn't. Whether Shuey meant to bury Miller or not doesn't matter...that's the way it appeared to the refs. I wouldn't have cared if they called it either way. What upsets me more is that they'll call this penalty but not the late hit against Hot Rod.

I don't think Shuey really cared. He would have done it again, and again...

Most of the time the officials will keep the rags in their pockets on that hit. It's indicitive of BV's demanding toughness. That's something we haven't had as a team since the departure of Coach Ford.
I'll take that penalty two times out of ten. It says 'This is Football not volleyball!' It speaks volumns to our team and theirs too.

Braxxxton's feet were off the ground, providing no resistance to the Shuey hit. He was always going to land flat on his back on this play and Shuey was always going to land on top of him shoulder first. This is the only possible outcome for a play like this.

HotRod got flipped upside down and spun over and slamed flat out on the ground I can't imagine a good fundamentally sound tackle like that being a penalty.
