new playoff guarantees 6 conference champions

and 6 "at large teams" With only 6 at large spots, most of those will be filled by SEC and B1g. add ND into mix and I'm not liking this format.

This year, probably UCF (9-3) or Tulane(10-2) would get one of the 6 conference champion spots. Seems like a wasted spot.

Then at that point just play a tune-up game to start and play nothing but conference games during the year.

Definitely agree. The ranking will always be subjective and I don't like conference champion ties. It should be a weighted factor, but not the deciding factor. This year a prime example because fsu should have gotten a spot this year since the g5 teams are down.

It means equality. Every single team has a chance to get in the playoffs and it is completely up to them to do it, not some subjective rankings. If a “higher ranked” team gets let out, boo whoo, they should have won their conference. Ultimately it will help drive conference realignment because every conference is represented in the playoffs.
