UNC's 91 had one of the hardest hits you will ever see

Aug 30, 2013, 8:57 AM

BUT THERE WERE NO RERUNS
Not even one. Much less a million.
For 5 seconds after the hit, ESPN gave him his proper due.
But quickly realized they were doing the right thing. So they quit.
For you see, UNC is not in the SEC. Do you understand this yet?
See where I am going with this?
Please do not get your feelings hurt tomorrow when we don't get any love.
It ain't gonna happen.

But...but..but..the guy kept his helmet. So it doesn't count. Even if it was harder than the Clown. And this guy was running around defenders, not just straight up a gap with no resistance. ESPN logic.

There's also the whole thing of context.

Aug 30, 2013, 9:05 AM

It really wasn't a significant player, other than that a tackle was made. Clowney's caused a game-changing turnover in a major bowl game. Sure, it's way over-hyped, but there's little comparison to be made, contextually, to the UNC hit on Hampton.

*wasn't a significant play***

But if it's a good solid hit it deserves at least

Aug 30, 2013, 9:08 AM

one replay, especially when a couple of the broadcasters said it was. No one's arguing the contextual value of the hit

Whatever you do, always give 100%.....unless it's donating blood

I won't argue that.***

Aug 30, 2013, 9:09 AM [ in reply to There's also the whole thing of context. ]

If it matter about context, then why don't they show Clowneypicking up the fumble. Heck, I don't even think the show the Michigan guy losing the ball, just his helmet. If you didn't see the game, you'd think it was the same as what 91 hit, and that'd be a hard hit. I didn't mention context, because the infinite replays that ESPN so generously replays for us are taken out of context.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well it was a legal hit so it doesn't count. Only illegal

Aug 30, 2013, 9:01 AM

hits by SEC players who don't get whistled get the love.

espn has become a cartoon - Glad you see that***

Was that the hit on Hampton on the punt return?

Aug 30, 2013, 9:03 AM

Hampton got lit up on almost every return last night. UNC's kick coverage teams bring the pain, that's for sure.

Don't know the names --- 4:00 mark in first quarter***

I noticed the same thing. I was waiting for a replay but

Aug 30, 2013, 9:05 AM

never got one. Not even after the commercial break.

They were obviously reprimanded during the commercial

Aug 30, 2013, 10:32 AM

And I am not kidding. Announcers immediately began pointing out the dominance of usc over unc. The SCORE was 10-0. A perfect follow-up comment that we did not hear but would have if the sec team had been trailing:

"That hit could just be the momentum changer unc has been looking for --- great hit -- could be a game changer"

Re: I noticed the same thing. I was waiting for a replay but

Aug 30, 2013, 10:36 AM [ in reply to I noticed the same thing. I was waiting for a replay but ]

That's why you've got to have a DVR. Make your own replay, no waiting.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had that hit been made by Clowney, he would have been

Aug 30, 2013, 9:07 AM

given the Heisman at halftime.

Exactly, folks are missing the part where ESPN actually

create, or significantly influence, THE CONTEXT.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can we get a link??******

Aug 30, 2013, 9:15 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, but I can tell you it happened at the 4:00 mark QTR 1***
