uhhhh I smell something fishy here

Apr 28, 2014, 4:45 PM

It could be coming from in between Sterling's girlfriends legs, but I believe it is this

http://network.yardbarker.com/nba/article_external/report_magic_johnson_wants_to_buy_clippers_from_sterling/16357457

Is it much of a stretch to think that Magic Johnson paid Sterling's girlfriend to take a picture with Johnson, bait him, and record him saying those things, and then get every civil rights leader to force sterling to sell the Clippers to Johnson. Wasn't Johnson the first one to tweet about sterling, saying he would never go to another game, and call for a boycott? Stand your ground Sterling, This is America where you can say whatever the hell you want, especially in a private conversation!

So

Apr 28, 2014, 4:58 PM

A guy who has, multiple times in the past, said and done things, according to multiple different sources, that would make any sane person question his views on race is just being set up here?

TO me it's quite simple. If that's him talking, he deserves the flack he'll get.

As far as I know, no government organization has infringed on his first amendment rights. So are we really upset that a man who says something that, again to most sane folks, sounds bigoted against a large portion of both his employees and fanbase is catching heck for it?

And, no, I'm no fan of anyone surreptitiously recording and leaking conversations, but it doesn't give him a free pass on his espoused views.

Re: So

Apr 28, 2014, 5:06 PM

It was a private conversation....Funny thing about life is that we all put on a fake smile and walk through our daily lives like we are perfect angels. But let someone tap into other private conversations and you would probably have to fire 80% of the workforce in this country.

I guess what I mean is I don't agree with what he said, but we all have skeletons and we all have thoughts that we would not want the rest of the public to know about for fear of the shaming. Many of the self righteous folks on this site who have convicted Mr. Sterling would be extremely ashamed if I went through their personal emails or listened to their phone calls....please remember that while on your soap box :)

Fair points

Apr 28, 2014, 5:12 PM

However, I am not on any soapbox and am certainly not claiming myself to be perfect.

What I am saying is that what he said seems to reflect a bigoted stance against a large portion of his employees and fans, and he is gonna catch flack for that. I'm not sure why anyone would expect otherwise (or think it wrong).

Of course, he said it in private, but if that's him on tape he said it, and he'll have to live with the reactions from folks for him having said it.

Fair points from you as well and I didnt mean you specifically with the "soap box" comment. Just wanted to point out that we should all be careful how harshly we judge someone even if we think their comments may be ignorant. It is very easy for us to be cruel and unsympathetic when we think no one else is watching

You don't have to go through Donald Sterling's personal..

Here's what we have here . . .

Apr 28, 2014, 6:12 PM [ in reply to Re: So ]

An arrogant, rich old racist pr1ck, who had his private phone conversation recorded without his permission by his "girlfriend" who was having the ##### with him for money, then had her feelings hurt (heh) when she realized she was not exempt from the racist part about her arrogant rich old pr1ck.

Winners all around.

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."

that's exactly the point I am making

Apr 28, 2014, 5:21 PM [ in reply to So ]

Johnson knew he would say something about black people and he paid the girl to bait him into saying it. It's not a far reach. A far out reach would be saying that aliens probed him and forced him to say it......thats still my close second opinion though.

Donald Sterling is a life long racist....

Apr 28, 2014, 5:23 PM

There are 1000's of incidents of Sterling being an avowed racist. In 1983 he told coaching candidate Rollie Masimino "What makes you think you can coach a bunch of n******?" He told Elgin Baylor that he wanted his team to be ran like a southern plantation, with southern black boys being coached by a white coach. He has long history of housing discrimination against Blacks and Latino's. He has had numerous sexual harassment cases where he has had to buy his way out of. In 2010 the federal government fined him 2.7 million dollars for housing discrimination. In 2011 he lost a 17.1 million dollars in another discrimination.

You are an absolute scumbag to defend a truly pathetic person like Donald Sterling.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Accurate post.....the more you read about Sterling's history

Apr 28, 2014, 5:49 PM

the more one wonders about how he passed muster to become an NBA owner....I guess they figured they'd give a franchise to anyone idiotic enough to go up against the Lakers.

What truly befuddles me is one of his alleged statements about keeping "them" away from the games.....does he not understand the segment of our population which has the strongest NBA support?????

It'd be like a NASCAR race team owner telling someone to keep white folks away from the track.......

Hey the guy is a jerk and known to be such for years.
Good thing the lovely women aired this taped
before the dude got a LIFETIME achievement award.
Oh the irony.....
He has a RIGHT to his views and if public , and they ARE,
for decades.. Don't associate with them and
don't subscribe to their view.
Call him names. Heck sue 'em . Seemed to be profitable
if records can be believed.
BUT...... Guy has a right to speech.
He almost got an award for advancing people.
Ya can't make this stuff up. I love that about America.
Hope the NBA chooses to not associate with the guy.
But that is up to the "club".
I wouldn't take his money and honor him either.

Good job ignoring the fact he was about to be awarded the NAACP man of the year award along side the Race Baiting king white hater himself Al Sharpton.

I like your points.
I am old---and every day I hear racist chatter----- from all races.

It has been that way since the "pollack jokes" you probably do not know about them 1960s maybe.

For a while everyone picked on the French.

It all evens out. The internet magnifies everything. And everyone---newspapers, radio, TV jump all over racist comments

I don't like Obama because I am a racist. Right? Naw, it can't be because he is an incompetent idiot spending our country into oblivion.

"Politically correct" is an impossible achievement as long as you are dealing with humans

This is an inaccurate statement.A lot of white
people like too jump on the racist bandwagon. if
you are white, tell Al or Jesse that you aren't
a racist. That word is slung around loosely.
