Opinions on the FSU debacle and state of CFB

FSU was pathetic, and expected.
I listened to ACC Huddle and the guys were praising players that stayed and praising players that opted out or transferred.
Am I the only one here that just sees a bunch of selfish athletes looking out for themselves? I get it. Players have more control of their livelihood now. I support that but an I just an old schooler that believes commitment means commitment? You can't say "I'm committed to XYZ University and a year or two later say it again to another program. That's not commitment. That's contract.
I get a kid looking out for his families livelihood with the big bucks on the line but what we all witnessed with FSU having most of their production skipping the Orange Bowl for whatever their reasonings ...to me....just isn't good for college football. I know it's a "new era" and all that BS but virtues mean something. Commitment means something!
In watching the Kansas St/NC St ...I witnessed Cooper Beebe. O linemen for K St. 2 time All American. Likely a 2nd to 3rd round guy. One of the best O linemen in this draft class. He played his final bowl game. Saying hey I came in with my guys in this class and this game is where I finish it with them. That's commitment. Maybe his family doesn't need the money. Maybe circumstances are different. I know.
But what No one (ESPN or acc huddle or whatever sports media) ever comments on is what commitment means. In my opinion...selfishness has infiltrated college football.
Just curious as to others opinions.

Regarding “egregious form of exhibition in college football. Today it's largely for television, athletic department and alumni fundraising, “, I 100% agree. Though not 100% sure how much money is generated that goes back to the school. I do believe the schools administrators spend a bunch of money in the “spirit” of fund raising. Unfortunately I tend to believe that the spirits are mostly consumed at expensive parties and everything breaks even so as not to raise concerns of the book keepers.

Several years ago there was a documentary on the fiesta bowl. That told me what I needed to know about bowl games. This belief is only reinforced by recent personal experience. At the end of the year, I had to sell my lower deck UNC tickets. I could not get more than $100 a piece for a ticket that I payed $150ish for after donation etc.. UNC was ranked. Kentucky was not. But playing Kentucky in the gator bowl, that ticket is over a $100? Somebodies making money. And when you contractually require schools to buy tickets when they agree to participate, I wonder how much the schools are actually making. Seemed like a lot of empty seats at that stadium on Friday.

That said to the Clemson fans that went, If you enjoyed yourself,great. Life is short and find something you enjoy. There are obviously a lot of fans that enjoy the bowl experience. And the powers that be recognize that, and are going to keep providing that experience for as long as the money works in their favor. Unfortunately, because the money is flowing no meaningful change is going to happen.
