Hard to stay at the top!

I was so confident that UGA was the team to beat this year (especially after they beat us).

But they looked weak at times (and invincible at others) and it’s funny to think where they would be as a program had they gotten in last year and had a healthy Beck in the playoffs this year.

I really don’t care, but all that and this to say: it’s hard to stay at the top. Saban did it. Dabo has been consistent- same with Smart - albeit Dabo has been consistent much longer.

I truly think Dabo is turning a new corner (hiring outstanding coaches and changing with NIL) and Smart is turning into Dabo (hiring buddies).

If Georgia regresses all I’ll say is it couldn’t happen to a nicer group of folks.

I think w portal and NIL it is a new dynamice and top flight teams will have shorter shelf lives than before like us Bama, Ga did. Going to be harder to keep great players together when there are no poaching rules and say what you will there are no rules now.

Nailed it. You’ll still have very good programs - but truly elite will be year to year. While many bemoan this, others welcome the change. Perhaps the definition of “elite” will change as well.
