Wow!? I am shocked. Arkansas would not be where I expected. I could see him going to Louisville, USCw, or to team like OHio St, Mich, or Texas. He is the highest paid coach with a $33mil buyout and he goes to Arky?

Not really. Arkansas will spend as much as anyone. And at one time Arkansas was as blue-blood as any. 90s run was stellar- six S16s, four E8s, three Final4s, back-to-back Finals and a championship.

If we don't get out of this conference The SEC and B1G will have the money to take any coach of ours they want. They are even going to try to outbid one another.

Guess he wanted some of that Tyson Foods and Walmart bottomless NIL funding. Kentucky used to be able to rely on the name and history but there is competition.

Some of the reason I've read:
Although Calipari has been wildly successful at Kentucky (two 38 win seasons, four Final Fours, 2012 National title, etc.) he was feeling the heat and growing tired of the fanbase's negativity.
Calipari is supposedly good friends with the sons of the Tyson Chicken family (Arkansas founded)
Arkansas has deep pocketed boosters and a loyal fanbase that will fill their 19,200 seat arena
Mussleman may have played relief pitcher to Calipari's closer, or maybe Eddie Sutton to Nolan Richardson. This is a program with a rich history going back to the late 70s.

Arkansas bailed Kentucky out of the buyout. Fans were unhappy with Calipari, and Kentucky couldn't fire him due to 33mil being owed upon termination. Interested to see who lands in Lexington. Who are some of the names we will hear as the next wildcat coach? Barnes?
