Andy Teasdall

Dec 6, 2015, 3:30 AM

Were there any interviews with him, and of so, did he say why he did what he did on that fake? Sorry if you guys already covered this topic. Thanks for any insight offered.

He didn't give any interviews after the game. He wanted to get an early start on his walk back to Clemson.

They had called for one of those rugby type of punts and apparently Teasdall thought on his own that he could make the first down.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you certain he decided all on his own,

Dec 6, 2015, 3:45 AM

to fake the punt. Is this based off of Dabo's reaction or the commentary during the game. If based on the commentary, there is no way for them to know for certain. Or did someone say this in an interview after the game.

I have a hard time believing a punter decides to fake on their own. I do believe that it is possible for him to be told, that he has that option, if he sees something and knows he can get there. And I wouldn't put it past a punter to make a bad decision in this case. Either way, by Dabo's reaction it was a bad choice. I just wonder if it's all on him or had he been given this option to consider, only in a better situation?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo said that it wasn't a fake punt in post game press conf***

Dabo himself said that Teasdall made the decision on his own. That's why he went off on him so hard.

Always given the option, or given the option on that particular play?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo

Dec 6, 2015, 4:08 AM [ in reply to Are you certain he decided all on his own, ]

Dabo: "My punter - I don't have an explanation - just decided to do something on his own & put us in a bad spot and it cost us a touchdown."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow, hadn't heard that.

Dec 6, 2015, 4:10 AM

Talk about a brain fart.

You have got to be kidding! It was all him. Dabo told you that in the sideline and Dabo told you that at halftime and Dabo told you that after the game. What more do you want?
I bet you could never find someone guilty of anything.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Haha

Dec 6, 2015, 3:47 AM [ in reply to Re: Andy Teasdall ]

Your comment is funny as is the situation in hindsight. Now that we won, I have to laugh. That has to be the ballsiest/dumbest decision of any punter in college football history. One day way down the road he is even going to laugh about it. "I thought I had it coach." What a time and situation to go rogue. It is hilarious in hindsight. Luckily we can all laugh about it now. Great win!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We probably wouldn't remember Teasdall years from now

Dec 6, 2015, 3:51 AM

otherwise.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah

Dec 6, 2015, 4:03 AM

In the second most important game in Clemson history, punting the ball from about his own 15, he wings it and comes up 11 yards short of the first. We will never forget that. That's how I prefer to remember it at least. It makes it funnier. There very well could be more to the story. That said, if we win this National Title it will be even that much better when we all can really laugh at the absurdity of the decision. I bet he is getting some serious razzing by his teammates.

Larry Seiple, for Kentucky, once ran a fake punt(on his own) when it was 4th and41. Granted, he scored a 70yd TD. Must have been slightly faster than poor Teasdall.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You may fool them long enough for about 5 yards

Dec 6, 2015, 4:04 AM

you need some wheels to get 13 yards

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow...

Dec 6, 2015, 4:04 AM [ in reply to Re: Andy Teasdall ]

That's hilarious.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just gotta love Dabo. In post game the locker room speech...

Dec 6, 2015, 4:56 AM

he says (paraphrased) "You've played this year like champions. We haven't always been perfect...we haven't always played smart - Right Teas? (room erupts with laughter), but we are still champions!"

Hilarious!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Haha...that's great.

Dec 6, 2015, 5:02 AM

All's well that ends well.

Dec 6, 2015, 6:31 AM

I honestly believe the kid thought his kick would be blocked.....looking at the rush coming to his right side.

Once he turned, things just happened really fast.

He hung himself out to dry over on the left.

Give Andy a break

Dec 6, 2015, 8:50 AM

This kid was a walk-on after a successful career in lacrosse. Hell, he may have never picked up a football prior to trying out. Yep, probably the worst decision a punter could possibly make, but give him a break. He's just a kid, and as our first-string punter, he needs to put it behind him so he can go out there and kill it in the face of 300 lb monsters trying to break his legs.

As good fans, let's help him put this behind him.

Bygones,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True, but..

Dec 6, 2015, 9:24 AM

we are laughing about it now and not angry. He should be fine with that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That punt was probably going to get blocked

Dec 6, 2015, 9:27 AM

or at least he thought it was. UNC was rushing the kick right into the roll out and very well may have blocked it and scored a touchdown.
