I remember being pretty bummed we missed out on him - any word on where he might be transferring? Not sure we have a spot but he seemed like a player

They never throw the ball and hadn't had a decent QB in ages.

Mettenberger was pretty good, but that's about it.

He also played with OBJ and Jarvis Landry who are both ridiculously good. Him and Demarcus Russell are the only LSU QBs that have been anything more than "competent" in the last 20 years. Of course Russell went on to become one of the biggest flops in NFL history, and Mettenberger is likely a career NFL backup.
LSU probably could've won twice as many titles in the last 12-13 years with even moderate QB play. 2011 certainly - the rest of that team was ridiculously good.

and sit out next year.
LSU, per league policy, will not release him to transfer to another $EC program.
I seem to recall Clemson was 2nd for his services behind LSU followed by A&M, Texas Tech, Notre Dame and Auburn.

With the receivers we're signing I doubt that we'd be interested in a guy who would take up a scholarship for a year while sitting out. In addition, he didn't exactly burn it up at LSU.

LSU's lack of quality QB play is the bigger issue.***

Plus his services aren't exactly needed at Clemson with us being loaded at WR, and like already said in so many words, we are scholarship poor at the WR position. Look for 4/5* DBs or big uglies looking to transfer, and maybe Dabo will shake the dust off a scholarship he may have stashed away for emergency reasons....

he's tired of blocking and having the ball thrown 6 yards short of him. Good player, wish we could've snagged him in that 2014 class over Kitt but we're doing more than fine without him. I wish Trey the best.

He should transfer to Duke, Miami, MSU, Stanford or somewhere like that. He is pretty talented but needs to go somewhere that throws the ball on occasion, isn't in the SEC and offers a good education. If we had room I would take him but we don't and we certainly won't deny a JJ, Ortre, Tee for a guy who will probably have 2 years left.
