Just a tip from experience

The hotel will usually let you check in before 3. Get to the hotel around 1 or 1:30 and you should be able to check in. They usually let you check in early more times than not.

I have never had any problems checking in early. Even if your room is not ready most hotels will let you leave your bags and they will take them up for you when the room is ready. Last hotel i stayed at did this. I just made sure nothing of extreme value was in my bags and left them for them to take to my room. They gave me my room key when i got back from the game and all was well. No complaints

Some hotel advice
Nov 14, 2012, 11:13 PM
|
|
the esposa has worked for a gigantic hotel company for over 20 years....some advice to help in situations like this...
Whatever the hotel brand (Marriot, Holiday Inn, etc)---join their "private club". Its always free and there are always benefits....particularly early check-in. Call them the day before your arrival and give them your "Club Membership #", tell them you have an appointment at 1 and need to check in by 12----barring some unusual circumstances (such as 100 other people doing the same thing) they'll always work with you to get you in as early as possible. And the more often you stay at that particular hotel brand, as a "club member" you build up points for free nights, discounts on car rentals, airline tix, etc.

Traffic will be much worse getting out that night than getting in for a 7pm game. After the triple overtime Miami game a few years ago, it took over 2 hours to get from Lot 5 back to I 85.
