HRT's Mt. Rushmore of CU Running Backs!

Please note: if you have a different list, that's perfectly fine. They are all Tigers and all favorites of mine. Also note: if I never saw them play, I can't put them on my Mt. Rushmore. So, there is that!
Travis Etienne Raymond Priester CJ Spiller Terry Allen
I started to go Kenny Flowers or Flagler(who was a childhood hero of mine). But, I think if I was sculpting stone of all time favorite HRT RB's that would be my personal list. James Davis and Andre Ellington would also be under strong consideration. But, there can only be 4.
I'm curious to know other people's Mt. Rushmore list of Clemson Running backs?

Cabbot argue with your list. I am just going to mention the rubber duck, Lester Brown! He often gets lost among Clemson RBs, and he was a good one! He may have had the best celebration of all our RBs too! That was when it was allowed!

I like that list too!
Interesting no Spiller! Statistically, Davis belongs in the conversation for certain. He' 3rd all time.
Still, I like your list. I think you are probably like me. I kind of like those backs that have speed and power more than just speed or just power backs.

But not in the top 4 for pure RB’s. So much of his danger was in receiving. His all purpose yards are unreal though.

I love that Woody Dantzler is number ten.... first college QB to throw for 3,000 and rush for 1,000. He did it even before Michael Vick.
And since I was a 95-99 Tiger.... I loved seeing T Zach having the same number of carries as ETN. He was a work horse under Bowden.
Also was very surprised J Davis had more carries than CJ Spiller. I know he was one year before CJ, but thought CJ would have more.
Mitch Hyatt is on there at number 372 with one carry for -5 yards.
Last on that list is Tommy Kendrick.... 150 rushing attempts for -484 yards... thats a lot of sacks we gave up between 1969-1971.
Just some interesting points looking at that list.

Ok I’ll scratch that because I see your reply. It was so much fun to realize any kick he received were an actual threat to end up a td.

Nice list. Spiller and Etienne should be on everyone's top 5. The rest are debatable.

but ETN got it all done better than any I saw in 65+ years..
and Terry Allen was really special..
and of course I marveled about Spiller..
but Ratchford & The Rubber Duck were enjoyable to watch as were so many others.
Saying, Clemson hasn’t had a Gale Sayers type but many who produced & won many games.
gooooooooooooooooTiGERS!

1) Priester....Made something out of alot of nothing. 2) Allen...he's on the edge of my memory, but he may be the best if not THE best pro running back Clemson has produced even with three major knee injuries. 3) ETN.
4a,b,c) Ellington - I think play calling limited him some. Didn't get enough touches. Gallman - Tough. Product of alot of great players around him. Flagler - loved the shoulder pads in that era!
Honorable Mention: Spiller was terrific. Would probably take him over any of the above. But pure RB, no...

Spiller should def be on every list. Didn't he have the NCAA record for APY when he left. Def not an honorable mention.

If you absolutely, positively, needed 4 yards between the tackles

there’s no way you’d take CJ over Allen. Allen was pure power. CJ was a gifted athlete but he’d run 15 yards to gain 4 because he just preferred going around the ends.

Not concerned if they are RB's or FB's, especially considering the history of our offense back in the day. Tracy Johnson ran the ball frequently just like his tailback teammates. He belongs in the mix IMO.

Loved the backfield of Preister and Smith.... Not as good as Davis and Spiller.
Shipley and Mafah are another great duo...
What would be interested in seeing how increased number of games and the addition of bowl games and CFP now counting in stats when it did not until the mid 90s.... Its hard to compare apples to apples unless you do YPC. The TD totals are skewed.

This is my biased opinion based on what they did on the field and brought to Clemson:
1. CJ Spiller 2. Travis ETN 3. Terry Allen 4. Priester, Davis, Flagler, Gallman (love how tough Gallman was, ran very hard, seemed to love contact, and his run against Bama in championship game loss in 2015 was incredible...best player out of that deal with Nmeche or whatever his name was), all equivalent in my book.

Pretty good list but just for convo I’ll throw prob the most forgotten about underrated back in Clemson history on there in Gallman.
I’d prob go:
ETN (no questions asked)
Spiller ( didn’t play on great teams but was electric and single handily his recruitment arguably changed an entire programs trajectory)
Allen (Too young to remember seeing him play but respect the game and know he’s one of the greats)
Gallman ( prob the most underrated great back in Clemson history by far)

I respect Gallman! He was reliable and durable! He had Adam Choice and CJ Fuller and Ty Dye and a FR Feaster as his backups.
Choice was solid; but Gallman was the bell cow.
I just wouldn't put him on my Mt. Rushmore. But, I have a ton of respect for what he did for the program.

Maybe the Mack. Strong runner. Side note. I looked back at some of the early Rb's. Weird to think how our early teams were so run based, but our "current era" of rbs are getting so much more yardage now. Guess flight school really openned up the run game
Honorable mention..... Just because he carried the coots 40 yards downfield...Emory

Had spiller not come in and taken some of his thunder, no pun intended, he would have most definently passed Priester on the all time rushing list, since he was within 100 yards of his mark. Maybe would have even been close to Etienne's numbers.
I say Etienne, Spiller, Davis, and Priester. In that order.
