As always, people worry about the QB and skill players but every team goes as far as their offensive can take them.

I think you omitted "line" but we get your point

I'm nervous but also optimistic about Putnam at center.

His quickness and toughness at RG over the past 3 years has been obvious.

If we can survive the first few games with the expected mistakes (line call confusion and maybe false starts due to snap 'yips' ... and some off-target snaps) from a first-time center, then we should be in great shape for a truly outstanding overall OL group this coming season.

And we really need for Howard and Linthicum to get ready; never know if the shizz storm of injuries / illnesses will strike the OL for a 2nd year in a row.

GOOOOOOOOOOO Tigers!

Tough absolutely

Quick I have not seen. Hopefully recovery form injury will put Putnam in good position. And Clemson can bring in more athleticism at RG.

Tell ya what- if Putnam can lock-in at center, and play well there all year, he will be a tremendous difference maker. Albeit behind the scenes, but this O-line and DJ/Cade needs some consistency to build around.

Go make your bread young man!

Putnam played hurt for much of the season last year with foot/ankle injuries. Seems like a small thing but really impacts mobility. Hopefully all that will be fixed come this year.

There is reason to be optimistic for this year on the line but nothing is a sure thing. With Rayburn and Trotter out, even assuming that Putnam gets the snapping and moving thing down that still puts a new starter at OG on one side at a minimum. Tate struggled at OG last year a bit so he'll need to up his game this year (no reason that he can't). Or if not Tate then we'll have another brand new starter at the other OG.

In any case, we will have and OL where no two people have played a season next to the person on his left/right. Lots of kinks/communication to be worked out before they will be in top form.

Depth is a concern again this year i think as it has been in the past. However after this season I think that it won't be like it has been last few years where we have needed to burn OL Redshirs to have OL ready to play by year 2 (or having RSFr pressed into service).

Avoid the injury bug and each day going forward should bring that much incremental improvement in OL play. I'm optmistic.
