I was there and bet my buddy that the Stones would open with "Start me up". Guess what, they did. Living Color was great. I bailed on a chance to ride home in a RV bus due to an over excess of over excess on the bus. They took I-85 and spent the night on the highway. We went back through Easley and got home sometime before the sun came up. I remember reading that it was the first time a US interstate highway had been closed due to a non-weather or rockslide event. I-85N from Clemson was dead stopped from that night until the next morning.

I was there... in the Upper Upper Deck, North Stands - somewhere in section s, R or Q.

North stands, lower deck, about 10 yard line ... great seats

Dec 8, 2014, 6:06 PM

IMHO, the last timeTthe Stones were The Stones because Bill Wyman left the group at the end of the Steel Wheels Tour. The stage was tremendous and the ramps Jagger ran out on came near where we were sitting. Loved the inflatable "Honky Tonk Women", LOL. Terrific show.

Re: Top Deck North...traffic was a beyotch getting into town

Dec 8, 2014, 6:31 PM

That and the fact that a large part of the crowd was unfamiliar with Clemson parking and traffic patterns and the SC Highway Patrol wasn't on hand to direct traffic like they are for ball games. It took us two full hours to go the 3 miles from our house to the concert ...

I was there! I was a college Junior at the time. My girlfriend's parents lived on the lake. Her dad took us to the concert by boat. It was the most incredible concert I've ever attended. We sat on the field.... 21st row from the stage. I paid the outrageous price of $60 each for the tickets.

I worked as "event security" which meant I got $50 and free

Dec 8, 2014, 8:36 PM

Admission to the concert, and a t-shirt that said event staff. But had to work all day setting up chairs.
When I was leaving, a guy offered me $50 for my shirt. I didn't hesitate to take the shirt off and take his $50. I went home shirtless.
Concert was cool. Never saw so many drunk, high people in one place.

Dec 9, 2014, 3:12 AM

Yes! I got to my seat upper north stands just as Living Color was finishing up. I drove from Simpsonvile and got about half way between Easley and Clemson on 123 when a wheel bearing burned out in the 72 Ford Gran Torino I owned. I tried hitchhiking for an hour with no luck as I walked along 123. Finally a guy whose brother owned a garage in the area and his old lady stopped and they dropped me off downtown. That was a great show. I remember the crowd singing along to "You can't always get what you want", I swear it sounded as if every single person in that stadium was singing in tune and in unison!

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
