It is CRIMINAL that men's soccer was given a #9 seed!!

And to add insult to injury three ACC teams, including North Carolina, were given higher seeds. Not only did we finish higher than UNC in the regular season but we beat them in the tourney in front of a home crowd. So we will only host ONE game at Riggs unless there is an upset!
I'm interested to hear Noonan's response to this and also curious who was on the selection panel. We lead the nation in goals per game and the second half of our season was as good as any teams in the country. Hoping this was some kind error or something.
The team is capable of getting through this but there is no explanation for us not being top 8!

We should have been top 8 for sure. UNC getting #3 is a joke. Virginia shouldn’t be ahead of us either.
They ship us up to New Hampshire for the sweet 16 and then #1 Marshall for elite 8 if seeds hold. Not an easy path

Marshall has to play Stanford, we may host our way to the College Cup yet.
But yes, being seated 6 places behind the team you beat for the conference championship the day before is ridiculous.
For some reason, Clemson had a very bad RPI even after yesterday's game, and the committee puts way too much emphasis on that.

Agreed. I can see Syracuse winning that game. I guess our strength of schedule was not very good. Even though we played a top ranked UCF out of conference. And also the ACC is overall down from what they normally are but that fact is blown out the water with the fact that three other ACC teams have been awarded top 8 seeds. Wow. Our guys can get through this though. We knocked off #1 seed Oregon State at their place the year we won the Natty.

Too much emphasis on "strength of schedule."

Sounds eerily familiar to other sports and how their postseason selections are made.
I don't understand why people on these selection committees don't watch these teams play. If they had, it would be obvious that we should be seeded much higher.

Also, look at it from New Hampshire's perspective ...

... they obviously had a good season to get a #8 seed. But the committee said here you go, you will probably play the defending national champions in your first game and, if you win that, you will most likely play the team that won 2 years ago (and just won the championship for the hardest conference in college soccer).
That is brutal!

Yep. When we made final of the ACC I thought we definitely had a top 8 seed. With the win I thought there was no doubt we would be top 4 and host until the college cup. The second half of our season was nearly flawless and add a tourney crown in the deepest conference in the country and I thought there was no doubt. Gamecocks or tobacco road officials must be on the selections committee. I mean Dayyum!

....the ACC knows Clemson is leaving the conference, so they convinced the seeding committee to punish them.
