Too boo, or not to boo...

Sports are broadcast for the fans. Athletes are paid because of the fans. If fans stopped watching games, attending games, buying apparel. There would be no reason to sports. It is pure entertainment for the masses. Fans have a right to cheer when they like something and boo when they dont. It has been this way for over two millennia.

So I say....

POTD.

Think you and @pig (and others) are spot on - it's entertainment. If it's anything else, then you probably need a new hobby. The same as posting on T-Net. It's entertainment, at least for me... even the coot trolls.

That's just called silent booing...it's the same thing. Protest comes in many forms.

Everyone has the right to Boo but I don’t
.
I just think it hurts recruiting and looks bad on the fan base.

Just me, if I get to the point I need to boo, I will stop going.

The results (or not) affects recruiting much more …especially if playing and coaching like you’ve never touched a football before …

And there's nothing wrong with that. Some choose to boo, scoff, clap, pick their nose.... or maybe even read a book.

If you boo a bad movie the people responsible typically aren’t in the room to hear it. So yes quite worthless to boo the 17 year old kid pressing the button to start/stop the projector as I doubt he has a direct line to Hollywood

If you're like me and you come to a Clemson game because you love the school and the team and want them to be as successful as possible you NEVER boo. Never once has a player thought oh yeah they're booing now I didn't realize what I was doing was bad; Imma try harder now. Booing does nothing but make things worse; not just for that game but also in the long run. Recruits watch games, I know that's a novel concept, Booing make us look bad to them. If your car breaks down do you go into the trunk grab a tire iron and start smashing the hood? Booing is just as self indulgent and counterproductive

I’ve always felt that it was wrong to boo 18-22 year old amateur student-athletes.

However, with the advent of NIL, these players can now be fairly be viewed as adults who are being paid (very well in some cases) to provide entertainment and a good ROI.

So I say boo all you want if you feel it’s warranted. I don’t plan to, but I don’t view it with the disdain I once did.

I've never been a boo guy towards our guys personally. Once upon a time when these were just student athletes that really gave it their all out of sheer passion and want, booing would irk me a little.

But now with the sheer stupid amount of money being thrown around the university and College Football, in almost every aspect, I'm at the point of accepting the boo's that come when we field a really bad team and look like we did. I won't do it. I will just shake my head with my arms crossed like a disappointed dad. Voicing displeasure in person and then hurting their pockets is the fastest way to get the message across though.

Of course anyone can do what they want, but I have a hard time booing guys who are putting in so much effort both on an off the field. Even if they aren't getting the job done well, it never sat well with me to boo the very people who's efforts you are cheering in the first place.

That said, I'm ok with limited situational booing, For example if the crowd is booing b/c everyone wants to coach(es) to go for it and they're not doing it - or some other dumb call is made, and it's relatively clear that the boo is that, and not just the team generally being booed, then I'm okay with it.
