Tony Steward

Whats the word on this young man. I know he was recovering from a knee injury this off season but I have not heard anything this year. I am really excited about Tony and I feel like he has kind of been forgotten. Does anyone have an update?
Thanks

Me too he was an animal in High School. May not be a terrible thing for him to redshirt, it would kind of make up for the wasted year last year. But Im like you I really want to see this guy on the field.

could be wrong , but i thought I read a post here with some sort of link stating so. I wouldn't rush the guy. If he can get back to full health, he'll be a beast!

We can still RS him. NCAA denied the medical RS.

The NCAA denied him a "medical redshirt" for last year. If he redshirts this year, it's just a straight up redshirt. We were trying to get last year a redshirted so the time he spent on the sideline wouldn't count as a year played. They denied it. I'm ready to see him play too, but what's better? Maybe three great years? Or one less than 100% year and two great years? Be patient grasshopper.

you think about it...he tore the first ACL in one leg senior year in high school...then last year...tears the one in the other leg....so the kid has not played a full year in two years already....he needs to get on back out there....if he is healthy!

If he rehabs, goes through strengthening and RS last year

He doesn't tear his second ACL.
He needs to come back when 100%, and not a day earlier. If he Redshirts this year, he'll be fine coming back next year!

Correct. One knee had nothing to do with the other, except

that a guy who carries that much muscle mass puts a lot of strain on his joints. Tony generates incredible power with his musculature. It's really no surprise that he's had issues with both knees. If the repaired ACLs are stronger than the originals, he'll be fine. Definitely shouldn't rush things at this point, though. I wouldn't mind seeing him redshirt and then tear things up for a couple years.

IF our defense can shut that little bit of O that FSU has DOWN. And I did say IF. We will win that game AT FSU, or any where else it could be played. I feel our second year O will score on their very good D.

That he does

But he has also shown he gets rattled. Hopefully the game will slow down and he will stay inside the system. If he does that we should fair well....assuming he gets a few seconds to make the check downs

Venables told me Sunday that he looks great but that he hasn't had the opportunity to work him (Tony) out yet....that it will be around the 1 yr mark from second injury before he's really ready (though he has been medically cleared, I think Venables said).

We need him to play this year and be ready to start and be an all-conference player in 2013. I still hope for big things from him but the two ACLs have tempered my expectations. It can be done obviously, but it seems both his tears have come in practice settings and the mental hurdles will be huge.

I would love to see him play as well but I think it would be best for him medically to redshirt.
he said he wasn't 100% confident on that one knee last year and in hind sight we should had RS him last year.
I think let him get 100% and totally confident and bring him back.
I just hope the young man is healing well, doing well in school and will be everything he expects himself to be. Good young man and I want the best for him

Yeah the only thing is if they were stronger than the originals you would see nfl RB have their acl's removed and replaced but you dont so they can be close to as good as new but not quite wish him a speedy and great recovery.
