I’ve seen a lot of posts about the defensive performance or folks not happy with Tom’s defense. What most people aren’t realizing are these aren’t his players. Same with the OL and Matt Luke. He didn’t recruit most of these guys. He is working with what he has. He basically said in a nice way in his presser yesterday that we don’t have the dudes to do what he needs to. Eluded to wanting to blitz more but says you can’t blitz if you can’t cover 1v1 on the backend, which we can’t do. Give him time. But our defensive players outside of a few are Charmin soft and slow. Need to go get ballers. Like now.

No Tom Allen said that. You have to have players to run your teams. Just like if we didnt have those power rangers. what do you think would have happened? if we didnt have Deshaun and Trevor. we don't win those natties.. you need players.

I’m not knocking Allen by saying this, but technically the good Penn State defense wasn’t his players either. I’m all for giving him a few seasons to see what happens. I think team speed will be faster next year on defense but might have some growing pains. I would bet we have 2 freshman starting in the secondary. The safety Anderson. I’m not saying he will be as good as Isaiah Simmons but he will play a similar position. A Safety/nickle who can also blitz. I also see our linebackers being faster next season.

Right now our best OL is Jacobs....and he's one of Matt Luke's recruits. Just sayin'. It takes at least 1-2 years to develop a solid OLineman out of HS...rare when they can step in and play immediately.

It's not common for OL to contribute in year 1. We need to portal in some talented guys with experience.

This is a silly take. Just because he's not on the road handing out business cards doesn't mean he isn't involved with and overseeing recruitment on the defensive side. Moreover, he should be identifying and directing the staff to bring in the types of players needed for his system.
