evidence that the refs influence the game

I noticed this during the game. Watch the fsu play that starts at the 5:12 mark of this condensed version of the game. The runner is stopped short of the yard to gain. The side judge initially is going to mark the ball short. However, watch closely and the side judge turns around and looks to see where the first down marker is located and then subtly takes a step to his left to change the spot to a first down. Not seen in this condensed version is that he then immediately signals the chains to be moved so that the spot can not be measured.
Also, he is the same ref who a few plays later comes to the pile at the goal line and immediately signals a touchdown on the 4th down play. The other side judge was apparently going to mark his forward progress stopped short of the goal line.

What I saw in the condensed game was about what I saw in the live game on Saturday, Some of our fans really don't realize how lucky we were to win the game!!!

Clemson, 203 yds passing, 167 yds rushing, total yds, 370

FSU, 254 yds passing, 206 yds rushing, total yds, 460

in the 2nd and 3rd quarter ... totally erasing FSUs early momentum ... and making the late heroics by The Noles a moot point.

The stat sheet is totally irrelevant.

Gauging a team’s performance through simple stats is almost always deceptive.

Clemson may have relaxed a bit toward the end, but The Tigers dominated that game.
