He needed to come out and make his position clear and I’m glad he did. It can only help…

I’ve been told for a while he was going to make a change.

As I’ve told people here over and over again money is not the issue

This revenue sharing provide adequate cover

Need to get to work on the 2025 class

He needed to change the oft repeated narrative that once we start paying players might be the time for him to look for something else to do.

He's referring to the Dabo comment from roughly 6 years ago where he said that about finding something else to do if we started paying players.

Money has been his biggest problem, and he said it himself in this article and anybody that thinks anything different after reading this article their problem is with reading comprehension bc he said,

(We’re going to be in a great spot when the revenue share starts," Swinney said on his radio show Monday. "I think that’s going to be the best case for us. We have the money here, but right now, you can’t share the money you have. You have to go and raise it. That’s a challenge. It just is. And the revenue share really won’t start until July 1) and the July 1 date that he quoted I'll assume that he's talking about July 1 next year in 2025...

Then he goes on to say that, (I think it’s going to be a much better situation when the rev share gets here. ) and that means that the NIL bank is going to be stretched pretty thin until the revenue share that he is expecting get from the ACC money bc our FB program brings in probably 70 to 75% more money to the ACC than 90% of the rest of the ACC. I'm sure we have money coming in our NIL bank, but it isn't near as much as some of our fans believe that we're getting.

If it's elite and championship programs that the alumni and some of the wealthiest part of our fan base is wanting, well then, the ones that can afford to give to our NIL bank, then they need to start sending money to our NIL bank. There's already a lot of alums at some of the schools that have been doing that when the coaches started hinting out loud that if they wanted elite programs, the NIL money had to come from somewhere and the money started pouring into their NIL banks...

Where did you get money was not the issue? The way I read his statement was we can be competitive revenue sharing but not in nil bidding wars. Also stated we needed to work on raising money.

The only issue here is the proposed settlement in House as it is currently written is DOA IMO. Look at the ridiculous arguments the NCAAs attorneys were making in the last hearing. The attorneys did their best, but their client has is a total clown. The Power (2, 3, 4 or whatever) need to make a clean break from the NCAA. Maybe treble damages will push them to it? Who knows?

The NCAA is very likely going to lose the private NIL point

The are still trying to interfere with private NIL by interfering in it.

They have also lost related issues in the Alston SCOTUS case and the federal injunction in the Tennessee case.

All the athletes have to do to stop it is refuse the settlement unless the private NIL clause is removed.

As your linked article states, of that happens, litigation resumes.

If the NCAA was smart, they'd settle by approving revenue sharing and stop trying to control NIL deals between other entities.

It's probably the only way they don't put the case back into litigation and probably lose it like they've lost every other related court decision.

If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times here on T-Net. All, every one of the D-1 schools should get together and voted the NCAA out of governing the rule and regulation for all D-1 athletic schools and put together some other governing rules committee, and put the B O T's together by a lottery taking someone from the athletic departments of all D-1 schools with no one person from a school to be allowed to sit on the B O T's for more than 3 years, and the lottery will kick another person's name out from another D-1 school that will keep whatever number of B O T's that will serve on the B O T's with the lottery putting in another B O T member after a person's 3 year limit was up. I guess they would decide the number of B O T's to be on the board at once. And having them to rotate out every 3 years would allow every D-1 to have a member serving on the BOT's at one time or another to keep it fair for all D-1 schools members. I really don't care how they do it as long as the NCAA has been fired!!!

Per the settlement, Each school as to set aside $20 million per year

While that’s good and unless I missing something, NIL will still exist in its current form. If we are struggling with it now, we will still not struggle? The UGA’s of the world will just have $20mil more to add to their existing pot-right? What am I missing?

NIL will never be equal or fair for every school until some rules are put in and strictly enforced!!! If a school gets caught cheating twice, that school should receive a 10 year life sentence for that school's athletic department for all of their sport programs and not just for the one sport caught cheating, do that and it would end all/any part of NIL cheating bc no coach would risk getting their entire athletic department shut down for 10 long years.

Can you imagine how many student athletes, and how much money that would cost a school bc a coach was so stupid that he would risk every sports program for that school, somebody would gun him/her down. They would have to go live somewhere far away under a totally different Identity!!!;)

I am glad Dabo cleared up the misperception that many on this site that revenue sharing has not started yet. Players are getting NIL but schools are not paying them.

In the name of NIL’s. Somebody needs to be interfering on that side to be sure the said NIL’s are legit. Nip that up and we could possibly get closer to equitable. Won’t be perfect but better.

True NIL’s are fantastic and understood but that is not happening across the board. If someone or something cannot regulate 3rd party NIL’s then it is still a mess.
Bluffton, I understand what you are reiterating but what gives on making it a level playing field?

Hopefully the contract will give us more of the share we deserve to have. Better share = more money = more rev sharing = more money to players

Revenue sharing is not about what a team deserves, not about NIL or just about football. If Revenue Sharing is approved, it will mean EACH athlete, not just football players, receive some sort of payment. The money does not go into a collective for NIL, it is spread to all athletes. According to Dabo, the terms have not been accepted but the approval is likely in some form.

If everyone would just understand that NIL is available to every school, every athlete, and is a law approved by the US Congress some of moaning and groaning would stop. NIL will not be abandoned because Congress will not change it because it is a right that athletes have and a Senator or Congressman would be laughed off the floor if he or she said we should repeal NIL. If you have a job and pay taxes, would you want Congress to say nope, deal with not having a job? NIL is a really, really easy concept if everyone would just try to understand how it works.

NIL as Pay-For-Play outside of and in addition to their Revenue Sharing. So you will have a wealthy SEC or B1G program with all that tv revenue max out their revenue sharing and then still have collectives/boosters on the side paying large amounts on top of it as Pay-For-Play and still calling it NIL.

Yep, just because ea team will get $22 M per, that doesn't "level the playing field". The Georgia's, the Alabama's, Ohio States, Texas' of the world will still trump that $22M & compensate their teams even more! So to say we'll be "even" or "level" is not accurate!
