What in the world happened to college athletics?

This absurd that we are at this point. This settlement, if it happens, is only going to lead to more lawsuits. The can of worms Ed Obannon opened has ruined college athletics and will most likely bankrupt some schools.

In some ways it might be good to just let it collapse and blow it up and start over. Money has ruined it but can’t fix it.

IMO the NCAA is what happened to college athletics with different sets of rules for the schools that has tons of money and the ones that barely get by with a much smaller bank account and with that came the biases and a different set of rules especially with how severe the probation failed to add up for the rich, and ran way off the road with the poor. The NCAA bias and favoritism is exactly what happened within college athletics without any rules to keep the NCAA in check!!!

and not extremely liberal in any way. Incidently, didn’t all this NIL turmoil begin in California? Is there any way we can line up 1,000,000 bulldozers in the dark of the night and detract the entire state from the United States?

The US couldn’t afford to. If Caly was a country, they would be the 5th largest economy in the world.

Why should they take on the hardest questions and answers when taking just one big dozer and running smack through the NCAA and the biggest problems of using college athletes in a slave labor without them ever considering the wealth sharing with the student athletes!!!

Even if the District Ct judge ultimately approves the settlement, it will surely be appealed to the 9th Circuit. The sticky wicket here is the proposed monetary terms seem to be a prima facie antitrust violation. $20.5M cap screams arbitrary and non market based. If schools want to implement payment caps, players are employees and we are off to collective bargaining.
