I'll be shocked if Texas sniffs the playoff

I think everyone is just enamored with Tom Herman and Sam Ehlinger and completely ignoring that they 1) lose a lot of players from last year, 2) won a bunch of close games last year, and 3) routinely play poorly against inferior competition under Herman.
Herman is an undeniably great big game coach. He did it at Houston and he's done it at Texas. Unfortunately he's been very mediocre against everyone else, and the "everyone else" is really the meat and potatoes of a schedule.

If someone pulled off Herrmans face mask, I believe you might find Tommy Bowden under there.......

So losing to an inferior opponent is now “Texasing” I like that but I like “Georgiaing” better.

I see Alabama gets the peach bowl home cooking while the Tigers fly as far a way as possible again.

But that didn't help their team much.

Don’t want the 1 seed curse! Even though Glendale is far away, both the 2015-2016 games there had very affordable tickets- I paid in the $200’s both years.

Exactly. I have never heard of a team receiving a waiver for bowl eligibility because their schedule was too hard.
That's what Mus will be claiming on Dec 1.

Texas a 3 seed?

I don't see it. I can MAYBE buy Alabama as 1 seed and Clemson as 2 (although I think we have an excellent shot at 1 even if both undefeated), but I can't see Texas at 3 (which would basically mean they would have to be undefeated as well).

of getting the #1 seed over Bama. Even if A&M is awesome and wins 10+ games, they are on Alabama's schedule too. Ditto for South Carolina. And they will play LSU, Auburn, and likely Georgia. We just won't have a schedule to match that this year.

I think it's highly unlikely...

that Texas makes the playoffs. In fact, i can see them losing as many as three games (LSU, WVU and OU).
Here's the schedule;
Sept. 7 LSU Sept. 14 Rice (in Houston) Sept. 21 Oklahoma State Sept. 28 OPEN DATE Oct. 5 at West Virginia Oct. 12 Oklahoma (in Dallas) Oct. 19 Kansas Oct. 26 at TCU Nov. 2 OPEN DATE Nov. 9 Kansas State Nov. 16 at Iowa State Nov. 23 at Baylor Nov. 30 Texas Tech

LSU and lose to like TCU or Baylor. Also, that road game at Iowa State is going to be very though. I think they are probably a 9-3ish team, but i don't expect them to get their by losing to the 3 best teams on the schedule. That's not what Tom Herman does.
Also, i wouldn't expect a great deal from WVU this year. They lose a TON of talent and aren't in the position to just replace it immediately. I'm a very big Neal Brown fan, but he's taking on a bit of a rebuild there next year.

I wouldnt count out Kansas.....Kansas doesnt have a lot of talent but Les Miles will pull out some crazy tricks....probably punt on 2nd down, drop kick on 3rd, Line QB up as WR and have TE play QB....

Iowa St is very capable of being top 2-3 in conference this year. They have brought a bunch back and people saying this is Coach Campbell's year based on QB and RB returning. Ok St wont be a sleeper and TCU will be tough.

I think we will be denied that 28-0 (or thereabouts) party this year.
I would wish for it but can't see it happening.
