Will have a good chance to extend the run beginning Friday. May not be able to score many of the other type.

USC —Upstate has a lot of recruiting advantages Clemson doesn’t have. Once we give time for Lee to get his players in, well, USCUpstate better watch out

Judge you seem to be enjoying the attacks on Monte. What do you think give him 5 more years to get it turned around then start to judge the program? Remember he has less scholarships than basketball and fields a team almost twice the size of BB.

I just know the natives will be restless. It’s going to get ugly here on the TNets.
I think Monte will figure it out this year. If he doesn’t, his future will be sorted out after the season, not now. I’m a big believer in letting a coach finish the season before making major decisions. A lot can happen between now and then.

Today's bright spot was Dan Scott calling the game on ACCNX

Dan Scott did a great job calling the baseball game on ACCNX with Tim Bourett. I miss the days when Dan Scott was the regular PBP man for Clemson baseball. He was born to be a baseball announcer.
Today the Tigers never gave Dan the chance for his signature call of: "He hit it high, he hit it deep, GONE!!!"

I know it's all AMOO but Qualk/Mahoney are the biggest apologist I've ever heard. Everything is "just inches away" or "if.". Unfortunately I can't watch it right now so I have to "hold my nose & swallow." I know The Roar is the flagship station but their staff are maybe better reporters/sources than announcers.

I have never jumped onto one of those “fire the coach “ bandwagons and am not now. However, I must admit to being very disappointed in Clemson baseball under Monte Lee. Based on his accomplishments at The College of Charleston and the baseball tradition he inherited at Clemson I thought he would have Tiger baseball humming along by now. At least consistently top 5 in the ACC and top 20 nationally.

I can't say I'm too disappointed in Monte Lee, because I never had any great expectations. Today I still have low expectations while he is coaching the Tigers. I have not seen any consistently good coaching so far this season. Why expect improvement with no signs of improvement?

One way to think about it is:
If you sandwich a 15-5 run around a 5-5 run then you're 35-15... Which ain't bad. I remember 3 yrs ago a vandy team that started 10-12 and everyone gave up on them. They turned it around and whipped our buts and went on a nice Omaha run.

Jack was a good coach but not a great coach and with the two best teams he ever had he went 0-4 against the Coots in Omaha when we had better teams! Firing Jack was the right thing to do because the program was headed in the wrong direction, but I’m definitely disappointed with where we are today.
The irony is Monte was the guy South Carolina wanted and we got him and they were butt hurt for several years, but now it looks like they have a better coach and a better program.

He is literally a Hall of Famer but “not a great coach”. GTFOOH. The team that lost in 2010 lost to a USC squad that would play in 3 consecutive CWS finals. Only once did Leggett lose to a lesser USC team in Omaha. Even USC didn’t know what they had in Michael Roth when they put him in in 2010 and he went on to be one of the most successful college pitchers in history.

2002 was a bitter pull and we were the best team in the tourney. #### happens. Because it was USC people lose track that 2010 was ahead of schedule. We should have peaked in 2011 but had to run through USC in the midst of their mini dynasty. FWIW - I was in Omaha for both 2002 and 2010 and was amongst the many that thought that Michael Roth starting was a white surrender flag from USC. History had something else in mind.

I’m not gonna Google to correct myself. Did we got to USC’s regional in ‘12 and lose to UConn in ‘11? Maybe I have the years flip flopped.

Anybody know what happened to the SCar closer that Ray Tanner had throw 130 pitches in a game? Scar fans like to talk about Deshaun playing with a torn ACL but forget about Tanner ruining a closers arm!

People like you are so unintelligent that it is staggering. He’s a Hall of Fame coach because of the number of games he won. Some sports you automatically get in the Hall of Fame based on your numbers. When you coach a long time especially for an established program you’re gonna win a lot of games. Go look at the man’s record. I did the math. Take every three years on a rolling average and the best three years he had were his first three years and it went progressively down after that. Every three years a Clemson Jack’s record got progressively worse! His teams trending down during his entire career. Yes he put together two great teams towards the end of his career but if you put his record on a chart it went steadily down and his best three years were his first three.
The two years we played South Carolina in Omaha we did in fact have a better team because we beat them during the regular season had a better record and we were a higher seed.
Jack was a terrible coach in the big games because he was wrapped way too tight whereas Ray Tanner Was a great coach in Omaha because he knew how to keep his team loose and confident and ready to play. Khalil Greene Had more errors against South Carolina in Omaha than he had the entire season! We totally collapsed and choked in Omaha against South Carolina in large part because of coaching.

Couldn’t possibly be that other ACC schools and his closest in state rivals made significant investments in their programs over that period of time and yet he still kept Clemson relevant enough to have been, by your logic, better than the national champs in 2010. He did more than just win games. He went to 6 College World Series. That’s the equivalent of 6 Elite Eight appearances. He did this at least once every four years of his tenure until the last five years at which point folks like you won the day and got him dismissed. So why are we where we are now? Folks like you promised instant World Series championships would be flowing in under absolutely anyone other than Leggett.

Where's all the vitriol about not bunting? Don't you think
Mar 10, 2021, 8:03 AM
|
|
we could have made up a 10 run deficit by bunting?
Could be that we just got waxed in this game by a pretty good (undefeated actually) beisaball team.
There is no sport in college where the talent difference between small schools and big schools can be overcome more easily than baseball. If you really think about it, even the most successful superstar PROFESSIONAL baseball hitters fail over 2/3 of the time. One great pitcher can transform a team on any given day.

they can fix this and have a decent season. I haven’t really follow them that close this year but my understanding they are relatively young especially at pitching.
