on3 and 247 are the leading rankings systems...

elite 4 star recruit -> https://www.on3.com/db/darius-gray-155612/

a TNET 4 star . A true 3 star -> https://www.on3.com/db/bear-mcwhorter-155351/ , https://www.on3.com/db/grant-wise-176513/

Obviously you're free to value the sites that you want in the recruiting rankings, but both of those guys you linked are 4-star prospects on both Rivals and ESPN, with Wise a Top 140 prospect overall for both of those outlets.

It annoys me that Rivals and 247Sports (I haven’t paid much attention to ON3 yet) re-rate their recruits after they play a season of college football.

What a chicken-sheet way to make themselves look like great evaluators of HS talent.

OK, back to your always-appreciated articles about HS recruits in which Clemson and the subject recruit have mutual interest.

Clemson continues to have excellent luck with evaluating OL players which get (originally) rated as 3*. Elijah Thurman immediately comes to mind (essentially played most of the VA Tech game + almost entirely the Pitt game at LT as a true FR and performed credibly).

Jordan McFadden was a 3* rated prospect in HS and became the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner due to his stellar play at LT.

Hunter Rayburn was a 3* HS recruit who, after much mixing and matching of 2021 season’s (poor, for most of the year) OL, solidified the Center position and was instrumental in changing OL from bad to good by the end of the season. Too bad that Rayburn developed neck issues that led to his early exit from college FB.

Thanks again for the fine article.

Ironic that you scold them for being revisionists yet

you have Thurmon playing almost the entire Pitt game when he was hurt on our first offensive series(I believe the first snap)

Kid has an impressive list of schools he is considering. Will be interesting to see if this one comes down to money now or future development as a player and person. Sounds like he may be in it for the long haul.
