One of the reasons we need the offense to pick up its production is to help the defense. In our recent run of championship one of the reasons the defense had the success that it did was because our offense was putting up lots of points which puts pressure on the opposing offense to try and keep up. And our ability to extend drives limited the opposing offenses touches and gave the defense more time to rest. These in turn meant that opposing offenses had to drop the QB back more giving our pass rushers more opportunities to pin their ears back. Complimentary football on both sides lead to us getting some big leads and then being able to put in more backups to build a deeper roster and giver starters a chance to rest in the second half.
Let's hope this year is a return to that standard!

3 and out tends to create short fields for the other team's offense.
Even if you fail to score, if the offense can get even one or two first downs, punt team can set them back inside the 10. That gives the defense a green light for aggression.
Punting from inside your own 20 after a 3&out, though...

The receiver group definitely needs to stay healthy and improve especially on 50/50 balls. I question if it is a wasted Scholarship on Stellato.
