this and the attention to tackling shows that the previous DC did not have the drive and command of on field coaching. May have been a great game planner and film analyst but there is more to it. It was a questionable hie but you would thing CDS would have been able to light a fire under him when he saw those practices versus those of CBV.

This is exactly the type of coach we have been missing! Glad we made the change!

Glad to hear that intensity is back on the defense. Can’t wait to see it on Saturdays in Death Valley.

that the Wes Goodwin experiment was monumental failure.

We will see immediate improvement.
What I'm most anxious to see is how well Allan makes the necessary halftime adjustments to stymie any momentum our foe has established in the initial 30 minutes of players.
That was a glaring problem under Goodwin.
Gonna be fun.

The most insightful line of that article to me was...

...."So I think our first practice we had 57..."
Read the article to put it in context.

Goodwin must've been the laziest DC ever. Draws up his lil game plan, speaks normal in practices, then doesn't go through with the game plan in games.

Seems unfair to call him lazy unless you hangout in Reeves or work on field. He struck me as a nice man with limited communication skills. One of those guys whose brain went 1000 times faster than he could relay. What still is unclear to me is- how the defensive coaches - Eason, Reed, Rumph -incredible coaches could not help him or couldn’t help Swinney see what was going on. That still is the head scratcher in this one. Hope Godwin is doing well.

I will admit that I knew little about TA before we started looking BUT.. I had come across a post on X that a former player of his commented on. Said we should be looking at Coach Allen. Apparently this guy played for him at Indiana and raved about him. Basically would have run through a wall for him. Then I looked and remembered the Land Shark defense at Ole Miss and that was a darn good one as well. Goodwin knew X and Os.. but I just don't think he had buy in from the boys and he just didn't inspire. With him helping and BV driving it was a great situation and I wish them both well now in OU, but I am SUPER stoked about the defense this year and believe we can get back to being a top 10 defense this season, and a top 5 by next. Go Tigers!
