Ship isn't going to get may yards rushing when the entire universe knows that 2nd and long is a handoff - up the middle to him. I'm calling 1st and 2nd down plays. I'm a moran. Might want to mix it up.
Overall, not bad - enjoyed watching the defense.

We were fortunate in our own right as pertains to turnovers.

Ship put a ball on the ground, but got it back. There were at least two passes that could easily, and maybe SHOULD have been intercepted by the Cuse, but were dropped instead. Still a lot to clean up, but MAJOR offensive progress, and the defense played well schematically, with the exception of some poor tackling, which has been the case through four games. Giving up a LOT of yards with those misses, the difference between a defensive stop on downs, and the other guys continuing drives.
But, happy to get a win, and not even a nail biting win, over a quality opponent.

Good assessment 76er. This won't be a popular post because imo there's some disturbing trends overall on offense the last several years. Namely receivers and oline that show flashes of excellence as true freshman, then fade.
On paper, recruiting rankings, our best recruits on the oline have been the last several years... yet our lower rated OL recruits are getting the play reps, Trent Howard. What happened to Pennington. 2 camps ago, he got hurt but Dabo reassured us that without the injury he was a starter. Two years removed from injury, he's not getting reps. Same with Leigh, although he's playing, he was rated as a game changer.
Now, I understand players develop at different rates, other things in place etc. But it seems like a developmental trend. Is it coaches, is it nil, or is it just bad upfront assessment of what fits in our offense. DJ5, we talked extensively on how he was not a fit for our offense rpo based. But he was not really a good fit for the Clemson offense. Not an indictment on DJ5 skills, rather an example for point.
Yes, Cade is progressing nicely. As stated, 76er was on point. I really thought this team was going to be playoff caliber but taking off the orange glasses, we're not close to the top teams... and no, I think in the end, fsu will not be top tier. We look more like a Tennessee, Florida, Texas a&m to cite a few.

I've also wondered about guys like Pennington and also the center/snapper forget his name that went to the same school as Breese. Dabo and the coaches make comments like you mentioned Pennington or others in line to start then 2 or 3 years later they just fade away.
Dabo can't be expected to keep on top of every little thing for these guys (health, work ethic, motivation) but many of us have noticed this trend. I guess on the positive side XT looks really good finally after wandering out in the forest so to speak for 3 years, problem is many never make it back like him.

It's a little telling that true freshman receivers have their best season as true freshman, I guess that's before Grisham has a chance to fully screw them up!!!

It's nice to feel encouraged about our team for the first time in a while. Hopefully we will keep the momentum going.

Lack of development at the WR position is a major concern

And yet here we are acting like the fact that our best receiver is a true freshman every year and then those same players regress instead of getting better is something to be proud of.
