split every power 5 conference into 4 divisions. Each mid major into 2 divisions. Seed all the division champs and there's your mega CFP. Not sure why it needs to be so complicated.

Agreed. Without divisions no longer a need for them. The FCS conferences don't have them. They just go straight into their playoffs.

If there is money to be made off of these games, conferences and networks aren’t going to give them up. I’ve always hated them and would like nothing more than to eliminate them especially with an expanded playoff. But I don’t see the SEC and BIG on particular giving theirs up.

then you're basically having a 4 team tournament to get 1 conference member into the CFP. Each conference is allowed to do that. Reseeding can happen after that.
