Good morning everyone how was your Wednesday morning?
Feb 12, 2020, 9:26 AM

I woke up, had three cups of coffee, performed coffee dumpout ritual, showered, and am about to start my day. I'll include any updates in the later "Good morning how was your Wednesday afternoon" post.

Harrowing.
Feb 12, 2020, 9:53 AM
|
|
It started out like most any Wednesday morning, I went out to the barn to milk the Velociraptors, but as I stepped out into the yard, a group of Nazis on drugs mounted a frontal assault. Using the ancient Indian martial art of Kalari Payat taught to me by a very old and learned dolphin, I quickly dispatched these invaders and proceeded to get the chores done. After finishing the farm work, I went back to the house and had a hearty breakfast of eggs and pickles, took a cold shower while chanting sacred passages from the Epic of Gilgamesh, then dressed for work. Running a late, I decided to take my Dodge Tomahawk V10 Superbike so as to negotiate traffic more efficiently. Aside from narrowly averting and ambush by Totobiegosode tribal warriors, I made it to work in time for an 8:30 Aztec blood ritual training session that the company holds quarterly.
You know...routine stuff I'm sure all of you face on a regular basis.

Ran 5 miles. Showered and now onto a great local coffee spot to have a double espresso with a dollop of nutella.....wait on my boss to call me and then after off that call I am going to go out and fire up the Land Cruiser and take her for an hour spin since the roads are all dry. Then I am going to park her and let her cool off and then I am going to meet my buds for beers about 3pm and then have dinner with all of us that are going to Vegas next month and plan out the trip. Then I will be home by 8 to rock my daughter to sleep and my son is having a sleepover at grandma and greandpas, so maybe I can have a little #####.
Thanks for asking.

$1,500 to put some screws in the back of your cabinets? Sounds like you are getting ripped off, unless there is some significant issue that you have not mentioned.

But then the ants get high blood pressure and clogged arteries, have strokes, and then die slow and painful deaths. So it kinda works out in the end anyway.

They are crappy MDF cabinets
Feb 12, 2020, 12:08 PM
[ in reply to Say what now? ] |

They are starting to separate from themselves and the wall. More screws won't help since they have structural issues. Price is to have new wood cabinets to replace the area that is messed up.
I'm getting more estimates, just answered how my Wednesday morning was going.

If you want to DIY
Feb 12, 2020, 12:28 PM
|

Ikea cabinets are actually pretty good quality for what they are. They're not plywood but the functionality is better than built on site plywood cabinets. Builder grade cabinets from the major cabinet suppliers are junk. Even though the drawers and door fronts are advertised as plywood, the cabinet boxes themselves are actually a lower grade and thinner press board material than what Ikea offers (all 3/4" press board). I've done a few Ikea cabinet installs and I was pretty impressed with them compared to what builders are putting in houses these days. You just have to have some DIY competence to do the install.

I need them to match color and style with the other uppers so it doesn't look bad. That probably pushes the price up.
I'm all about some DIY, but the older I get the more I realize I'm better off paying a professional for some things.
