We are not. Our soft schedule has exposed us. Elite teams don’t have 2 hits and 3 errors in the biggest game of the year!

Very true. But we've only played two top 10 teams this year. Unfortunately since we're so young a program, we don't face good competition until the acc starts. We were fortunate to play the Florida tournament last year.

Well, I agree the tigers wounds were self-inflicted today. I also agree that our schedule is not as challenging as it could be.

But we're still an extremely young softball program! And I'm extremely proud of what our Tiger girls have done in such a short time as a program! We're also strong throughout our lineup in our pitching, hitting--and despite today's snapshot example, our defense in the field!

My biggest concern (looking down the road) is what we look like once Cagle leaves us! Don't get me wrong, I totally love Valerie Cagle! But she is so domineering as a Pitcher (as a starter & a reliever), and just as domineering as a hitter (both consistent in hitting average, as well as power & run production--and her on-base percentage--notice how many times she gets a walk when she doesn't get a hit). And even when she is not pitching, she is at 1st base--being a very good & consistent defensive player in the field!

I've been very impressed with Coach Rittman's recruiting--both in young high school players, as well as the experienced transfers he's brought in during our first 4 years. But I'm still afraid losing Cagle is going to be a big let down after next year (we were lucky enough to get an extra year of her fantastic contributions because of COVID!)!
