She's dillusional.

She is yelling at someone who towed her car. I'm sure many towing companies use predatory practices. It's possible the recipient of her rage had it coming.

Not defending her actions though.

My friend got her car towed in a Goose Creek shopping center on College Park rd. She rode to another place with me , and we came back an hr later only to find her car missing . The towing company sign that it was illegal to park in the lot if you weren't shopping there was on either side of the building , tucked away out of sight of the lot. Cost her $180 to get it back , and she had to wait 4 hrs so that the dude could get done "eating lunch" at the Chinese buffet , at 3:30 in the afternoon. Yeah , it is a filthy racket full of Coot like criminals who are basically predatory , smug a$$hats .

Back in the day, there was a bumpkin towing company in Clemson
Apr 17, 2015, 2:49 PM
|
|
that was running a racket where they would go through complexes that required a decal in the middle of the night. If they saw a car without one, the guy would knock on doors trying to find out who's car it was demanding $50 cash or it would be towed. I called CUPD one night when they tried to pull the scam on me. Cops made them leave. I have no resentment towards anyone who verbally abuses these slime balls. She should be promoted.

Perhaps some folks should take a moment to consider...
Apr 17, 2015, 9:18 PM
|
|
...the FACT that no towing company just willy-nilly tows cars and holds them hostage. They are hired by either a private concern (restaurant, apartment building, hospital, etc) or a public entity (city/county government, police depts, etc) who happens to own/control the parking space in question.
No towing company would be in business for long if they had tow truck drivers just trolling around looking for illegally parked cars, hooking up to them, and hauling them off. That does not happen as they would lose their business license very quickly. They are either called by the property owner on a case-by-case basis or they are kept on paid retainer/contract to proactively enforce the parking rules of the property.
It's really very simple. Park illegally, get your vehicle towed legally, get really pissed off and embarrassed by your own misdeed. Then take out your pissyness on the most convenient person who happens to be the lady behind the desk of the towing company in this case.
Ms. McHenry should be ashamed of her actions, and is currently and rightfully reaping the rewards of her despicable conduct. Sorry for the rant, but just dang. It's called being responsible for your own actions and not blaming others when you screw up.

ALMOST towed a car with kids inside...
Apr 17, 2015, 10:30 PM
[ in reply to ####, towed a car with kids inside ] |

...perhaps you should read your own link. As soon as the guy realized what was happening, he put the car down, and apologized for freaking the kids out. And the article does not bother to point out whether or not dad parked illegally. Just the sensational headline of "car almost towed with kids inside". But, of course, it's always someone else's fault.

Regardless, jerk was towing the car while the guy was in CVS
Apr 17, 2015, 11:09 PM
|
|
How long could he have been in there for? Tops 15 minutes. Point is that a lot of these tow companies abuse their contracts/authority by being predatory. Its a big problem in certain cities. Imagine going to BiLo while parking at the adjacent CVS. Then having your car towed because the tow guy waiting across the street saw you park in the "wrong" lot. This is what these guys are doing.

"Regardless" of the fact that I have been...
Apr 17, 2015, 11:48 PM
|
|
...driving for 35+ years and have somehow never had my car towed. Have lived in several different cities around the Southeast, have parked in many CVS or Bi-Lo lots (or Kroger or Publix or Walgreens or whatever), and somehow magically never had my car towed. That is indeed weird. Cause silly little facts don't matter. Or perhaps, I didn't park my car illegally. Perhaps if I parked illegally, my car would have been towed. And it would have been my fault. But perhaps, just maybe, I followed their parking policies and therefore I didn't get towed. I know that's a crazy point of view. Cause it's always someone else's fault.

Ridiculous comparison to the original subject...
Apr 18, 2015, 12:38 AM
|
|
...how in the world do you draw that parallel? This has nothing to do with folk's cars stuck in a snowstorm and some predatory jerks taking advantage of them. In this instance, the woman parked her car illegally at a restaurant, and got her car towed. Because the restaurant obviously has some super secret ninja policy about parking that she was clearly unaware of. I'm sure they tricked her into it. And, of course, it's someone else's fault.

I've never had that happen to me either but since I've lived in the LA area for the past decade ive seen it. Several regulations on improper towing has been put in place and litigation against them was made more punitive so its better. Predatory towing exists and can ruin your day if your in the wrong place. Might have ruined hers and she reacted

Apr 18, 2015, 1:22 AM

...what does this have to do with Ms. McHenry? Little different situation. But of course I'm sure your response will include something along the line of "it wasn't my fault" or "blame the man" or "some crazy guy towed my car from a perfectly legal parking space for absolutely no reason". Cause they do that stuff all the time.

You're refusal to acknowledge that many towing companies are shady makes it clear that you're either naive or you're being deliberately obtuse.

In Asheville a few years ago there was a company so bad that the Asheville PD set up a sting. There was a small lot near Lexington avenue that had one of those pay boxes. You basically select your numbered spot then pay for however long you need.
Cops planted a car there then staked out. Tow truck employee would come out and reset the machine as if he were collecting the fees, (at 10pm) and it would reset all the timers to 0, so then it looked like all the cars were out of time when the tickets printed out. They hauled off the planted car and the cops arrested the driver for "stealing" and city revoked the business license of the company.
So yeah, it happens.

Most all of them are sec bias and don't have a clue about anything sports related, they can keep Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge they're decent and very good commentators unless most the ones on ESPNU they're terrible.

If you have lived in a large city you know the towing and booting is downright criminal. That said, it is hard not to experience some schadenfreude seeing a woman exposing her all her hot-girl privilege and truth-bombing on camera. My initial assumption would be that she is the type of person who double parks wherever she wants and gets away with it. In which case she deserves to be canned for lack of character.
For a girl from Jersey, I thought her rant was pretty tame. I bet she is excellent at de-chroming trailer hitches. She will end up with her own reality show out of this, just wait.
