Thoughts from SCar peeps about 1st real open practice

Aug 16, 2016, 8:53 AM

This is from a guy who does their morning radio show in Columbia and predicted the team would go 7-6 this year (so he's pretty much a garnet colored glasses optimist).

- He was asked how the team "looked" on a scale of 1-10: He said 5 and really didn't come away feeling that great about the team.

- Was asked about QB Mcllwain: Basically, he said from what he saw Bentley threw the best ball out of the 3 guys getting the bulk of the reps. However, he wasn't sure Bentley would play. He didn't mention much about Mcllwain at all even though he was the one the question as asked about.

- Clemson rejected WR Bryan Edwards (although we would have taken him at Safety) was the most intriguing weapon on the outside, but that he was about it

Granted this was only one open practice so I'm sure Muschump kept some things under wraps. Take it as you wish.

Not really hard to understand coot logic

Aug 16, 2016, 10:00 AM

Just don't know why the coots don't.....

Logic: word not found in coot vocabulary.

Lol. Whatever makes the most sense, do the opposite. Coot logic.

Well they really don't have anything to

wrap. The two best QB's on the team are true freshman, one is barely 5'10" is more of a dual threat QB, the other is a 6'4" pocket passer who has already had two knee injuries. The offense line is below average with no depth and will keep whoever plays QB running for his life. They have no real talent at TB or depth. The WR corp has no depth and very little talent. TE is average.

Then the defense is small, slow, and has no depth. DT they have no depth and the players they do have are short for the position and undersized. DE again no depth and undersized. LB very small for a power 5 conference. DB again they are small for a power 5 team.

i can easly see them only winning 2 games this year UMASS and Western Carolina, Clemson will crush them. They will go 0-8 in the SEC and lose to Clemson and East Carolina and finish 2 and 10 on the year. The Carolina football has almost no talent at any position, I challenage any gamecock fan to find 3 future NFL players on their roster.

No one got shot, so that's good.

You keep specific plays under wraps

Aug 16, 2016, 10:12 AM

player talent and team chemistry is always an open book

Their secondary play has the potential to be

Aug 16, 2016, 10:12 AM

awful.

Sat in on Muschamp's clinic session for DB's. Extremely complex and complicated. Of course there's always the changing of coverage and alignment based on formation, but then they take it a step further and change coverage post snap depending on what the receivers do. College kids may be able to pick up on that but it's going to take a long time for them to be able to accomplish this feat and we all know he isn't working with ivy league at that glorified JUCO.

Edit: I know some of you coaches out there are thinking I'm referring to read 2/palm coverage that Saban developed. This is a whole different level.
