without Hall we'll be fortunate to go .500 in the non-conference slate. In the league, when does Hall return to 100%? He's going to have to play his way into shape.
Without Hall we have no ability to play inside out, which will be crucial as outmanned as we look up front, and as dependent as we'll likeky be on 3 pointers. Without Hall we need someone who can create looks for others. Who is that? Without Hall we have no low post scoring presence. Without Hall we have 3 guys who have logged any significant minutes in ACC caliber play; Tyson, Hunter, and Hemenway. You might could include Galloway, but neither he nor Hemenway have really played starters minutes at the ACC level.
5 freshmen (4 true) and 2 sophomores who have played little is just not the type roster Clemson has ever won with.
The league does look to be down, though we have no idea how the portal will effect teams. We know it will have minimal impact for us with just Galloway. Tech, State, Pitt, and Syracuse look way down on paper, but then so do we.

I actually like what Pitt and NCSt did in the portal and recruits especially at the guard spot. Ga Tech, Ville, and maybe even Syracuse might the three bottom teams this season, with maybe Clemson.

Actually think the top 6 or 7 teams in the ACC are a lot better than last season. After that it might be significant drop off. Virginia and FSU are going to be back to their usual selves this up coming season. Watch out for BC as a dark horse to maybe get to the top 6 spots. Earl Grant is a coach to keep an eye on the next few seasons in the ACC. Hope that soon could possibly include at Clemson...

14-17 Final record...
LOL. So I'm guessing you have us only winnning 7 non-conference games with losses to Iowa, Cal or TCU, Penn St, and Loyola Chicago?
So that would leave us going 7-12 in conference w/ a first round loss in the ACC tournament.
Brownell has only had 1 losing season since he's been at Clemson and that was when we had Devin Booker and Jennings as the senior class, no junior class, starting PG a second year 2* Rod Hall, and our Backup big man being a Freshman Landry Noko who was extremely raw.
How much would you like to bet that we won't have a losing season this year? Also since this is your expectations when we exceed them, will you admit we over-achieved under Brownell this year?

You forgot about Richmond a good team from the Atlantic 10 who won an NCAAT 1st round game last season.at South Carolina who will have a full house of coot students at the game pulling for their new coach, and a future NBA lottery pick GG Jackson in Cola in very early Nov without PJ Hall, and Towson a team who won their conference regular season last year.

Do you realize you speak significantly more favorably of the coots than us?
I'm sure the coots will be great! They lost all 5 of their top scorers from last year.

Without PJ the coots will be about even with Clemson. They have a future lottery pick and another top 125 recruit they brought in some good players in the portal. Some better than Galloway. They have a few good players who had good games vs Clemson last year when they had all the starters out of that game with COVID last season. Watch Earl Grant get the BC Eagles very close to soaring this season. It will be one of the top turnarounds from 1st to 2nd season in college basketball. The Judge will tell you that...

Again, why do you speak way more favorably of the gamecocks than Clemson?
Who was the top 125 recruit? Aside from their 5*, their highest rated recruit is #181. We have 2 top 160 recruits and Chauncy Wiggins is #180. Who are the transfers that are better than Galloway as you say? Per 247, they have 1 3* transfer, 1 2* transfer, and 3 not rated transfers. Galloway was a 3* transfer per 247. Their best transfer was Meechie Johnson. He averaged 4.4 ppg at Ohio State in 17 minutes played per game. Brevin Galloway averaged 8.3 PPG at BC in 24 minutes played per game.
LMAO you have really showed your true colors in this thread (if anyone couldn't already see). You speak more favorably about our hated rival than the team you supposedly root for.
The gamecocks lost their top 5 scorers from last year. You say that Clemson isn't returning much experience, but our top 3 scorers by the end of the year are. They have 1 stud incoming recruit and 2 other 3*. You have said a million times that our freshman most likely won't contribute significantly early. Why are you saying their 3* will? You say that Brevin Galloway was a bad get, but he has more experience, and better stats than their best transfer that you are praising.

I don't think South Carolina is really better than Clemson, but playing your second game on the road in a hostile environment with key guards being freshmen like Beadle and Dillion is a tough situation especially without PJ Hall. The Coot Center will be filled with students excited about a brand new ear in their basketball program and watching GG Jackson play...

But you speak way more favorably about South Carolina. You have written about how bad a pick up brevin Galloway was and even commented on one of his posts on twittter saying he was a bad pick up. Then you say the lower rates USC transfers are good players. What gives?
You talk about coot players mor favorably than our own.
You have the BC Head Coach ad your avatar.
And you claim to be a Clemson fan.

I never said the Tigers would definitely lose to the coots but it will be a tough game as the other games you mentioned.. Richmond will be as well as you didn't mention them. They beat Iowa in the NCAAT last season and have three starters back.
Earl Grant is a great coach and Coach Brownell is his mentor and friend of Coach Brownell Coach Grant was what helped the program under Brad going. He was the main recruiter for KJ McDaniels. Coach Brownell didn't want to even take KJ but coach Grant talked him into it. When Coach Brownell decides to step down Clemson would be wise to take Earl Grant as the next coach. Earl Grant is from the general area and is a great recruiter. He would lock down most of the state of SC for Clemson. BC has 4 starters back and has a top 20 recruiting class coming in.
I didn't say anything about Galloway on twitter. Most fans think that Galloway was the 4th best guard at BC last season. Listen to this ACC preview at the 38 min mark:

If you are Brad Brownell you have no worries because, regardless of the record, he knows he'll be retained for next season.

Dec. 21 @Georgia Tech Jan. 4 @Virginia Tech Jan. 7 @ Pittsburgh Jan. 17 @ Wake Forest Jan. 28 @ Florida State Jan. 31 @ Boston College Feb. 11 @ North Carolina Feb. 18 @ Louisville Feb. 25 @ NC State Feb. 28 @ Virginia
Our road slate isn't half bad. Could win 4-5 which if we hold a 7+ win home record, that would make 11-13 ACC wins plausable. The road is tougher on the back half, and that is fine as we tend to fade. Can't start slow or it will be rough. NC state will gift us a good win late.

If we do, then great, we can say we're seeing progress. If we don't, we have to make a change.
I hope we can do great and make but tournament, be if we don't then we can't continue making excuses. We have every single thing we need to be successful.
Let's go Tigers!

I agree.
The only scenario I see us keeping brownell without making the tourney is if our 5 freshman show great promise. In a scenario that say rj godfey, josh beadle, and Dillon hunter all look like they will be very good players, then I can see keeping brownell.
I'm thinking that's probably a slim chance, since Clemson has rarely recruited multiple difference makers in the same class.

That is a good theory, Clemson Mounter.
I think the PR when Brad and Neff part ways is going to very positive for Coach Brownell. He will get to step down as the winnings coach in Clemson Basketball history, and will thanked by all important and let the media know. Coach Brownell could suggest to Neff his opinion would do a fantastic job, and that is why I think Coach Earl Grant could be a top candidate. If BC has the turnaround season that I think they are going to have Grant will be a huge candidate at SEC teams and fellow ACC teams in the southern footprint area where he is from. Why not Clemson? It could be a similar situation when Tommy Bowdan stepped down and Dabo was hired.
