THIS will be a complete DISASTER for SCAR recruiting, and

it was going badly enough to begin with.
When Tommy Bowden was pushed out mid-season, at least we had an interim coach in place the next day who was first and foremost a dynamite recruiter.
And still, we had a disastrous recruiting class numbers-wise and that 12 man class had us struggling to catch up for years.
SOS quitting or being pushed out at this point and naming someone like GA Mangus as interim will totally blow SCAR recruiting out of the water.
We took a big chance on Dabo, but it paid off. I see no way they give Mangus the job permanently!
This years class is shot completely. And next years as well because even naming Spurrier didn't bring in the recruits immediately.
No matter who they hire, there will be at least a year's lag.
Wow ... just wow at this turn of events!!

5 years lag. Now that's a complete disaster

He had already torpedoed recruiting with his 2 year comment last year. They don't have much in the hopper. And now even with their money, who really wants to come there. The only reasons obs did was because nothing had ever been done. Now it has and my contention is that no one will ever do more than him there. plus it's in Columbia

I live in NE Cola and there is going to be either relief or mourning here once this "retirement" is confirmed. OBC has left a total mess! Usuck's recruiting for at least three years will be hit negatively in a big way. The current team will either rally or fall flat due to no real player leadership. Depending upon who the permanent hire is will easily affect recruiting for a full three to four seasons, especially if Clemson continues winning with potential championships ahead. I honestly could envision a five game Tiger win streak in the rivalry as well.
Go Tigers!

I have been saying he wanted to bury that program so deep the next coach will need a shovel not a whistle. If there is glow in the sky tonight, his wife is burning all that USC crap. Can't get to Fla. fast enough.

Very true. Hope they do not get Charlie Strong. I think he's a good coach that is just not a good fit at Texas. Will be a longhorn fan hoping they keep him around.

Looking at it objectively, it is good for them to rip the band aid off and get it over with. I was hoping he would limp on for several more years. The transition was always going to be ugly. Minimum 4-5 years before they can hope to be competitive again, and that's if they get lucky and make a home run hire.

I think they'll pursue Justin Fuente from Memphis. I'd be concerned if they did because he looks like a potential program-builder.

they NEVER get anything above 2* recruits again. Like they used to. Everything that's happening right now with Slurrier and their pathetic season is deserved by that fan base and university.
Serves 'em right. Suck it coots!
The world is definitely spinning correctly again.
