I think it might if the Tigers end up back into a 3 way tie with SMU and Miami with one loss. Then the criteria goes back to comparing win percentage of conference opponents.

Either SMU or Miami has to lose 2 conf games for us to get a spot in the championship game. Both of them beat Louisville and we lost to Ville, so they have the tie breaker. That’s my understanding.

I think with three teams tied , it goes to win percentage among common opponents inside the conference.
We would lose a head to head with SMU and Miami if two teams are tied due to our lose to Louisville.

No. Pitt would have to beat Louisville, Virginia would have to beat smu and va tech. If ALL that happened (big if but possible) then uva and Louisville would tie. Louisville would win the tiebreaker over uva because Louisville beat uva.

SMU's conqueror UVA didn't play all 3
Miami's conqueror GT didn't play all 3
Clemson's conqueror Louisville did play all 3 and we become the odd man out.

In other words, it would take an absolute miracle for Clemson to play for the ACC championship in 2024. I wouldn't buy tickets for 50 cent each expecting that miracle to happen!!!

process starts over as a 2 team tie. If Miami advances then that leaves SMU/Clemson. However for UVA to finish above UL, UVA has to win both while UL loses both(Stanford is one of their games). Unless there is a way UVA can win a multi team 5-3 tiebreaker for the 4th spot. UVAs loss to UL in the final 2 minutes may play as big of a role in keeping us out as our own UL loss.
Bottomline - there’s about a 1% chance other than SMU or Miami having 2 conf losses.
2nd bottom line - the fact we have to be considering this shows how stupid 14-20 team conferences are

if that occurs. So the tiebreaker is the based on win % against the team highest in the standings amongst the common opponents. Again, very little chance UVA finishes above UL in the standings but that is how it would work. UVA would become the important common opponent not UL in the scenario where UVA is 5-3 and UL is 4-4.

It goes to win% of the opponents in a 3 way tie situation, which apparently favors SMU right now, but there are a lot of conference games left.

Sadly there was still a scenario where if all three ended up winning out Clemson would still get the shaft.
The new format actually removes the "control your own destiny" sentiment. Which is completely absurd.

Bottom line is we don’t deserve it. IF we somehow back into the acccg and win it I don’t see any ACC teams making the playoff. We wouldn’t deserve a team in the field tbh. We’d get blown out

Looks like that Louisville loss is going to come back at bite Clemson. Hate to say I saw that loss coming. All the Heisman talk and player interviews that week were what Nick Saban would call " rat poison " and the Tigers took a big gulp. Hope it all works out, if not it appears some serious evaluation of all aspects of the football program will be needed. It is kind of hard justifying a head coach and staff getting paid those salaries and not playing in the conference championship. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger said " results or excuses, you can't have both. "
