This was a good week for Clemson in BCS...next week may not

Oct 28, 2012, 5:57 PM

be. Assuming these projections are accurate, here are the teams above us in the BCS and who they play next week.

Doubt LSU or KSU would fall below is if they get beat. Maybe the biggest chance is Oregon State losing to Arizona State.

Status quo may be all we can hope for next week.

1 Alabama @LSU

2 Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State

3 Notre Dame vs. Pitt

4 Oregon @USC

5 LSU vs. Bama

6 Georgia vs. Ole Miss

7 Florida vs. Mizzou

8 Florida State Bye

9 South Carolina Bye

10 Louisville vs. Temple

11 Oregon State vs. Arizona State

12 Stanford @Colorado

13 Clemson @Duke

Ok I get that but the poster I was replying to said that UGA or uf would lose this week. That would give uga 2 losses and the coots have the tie breaker over them. If uf loses they have 2 losses also but uf has the tie breaker over the coots !! If this isn't correct would someone explain it to me ??

If Georgia and Florida both lose one game, then yes, SC wins division with win over Arkansas.

One more loss each I should say. Florida would have two division losses (Missouri only game left), eliminating them, and SC holds tie-breaker over Georgia.

But if uf has two losses wouldn't that give them the tiebreaker over the coots. I mean they did win 44 - 11 in their game with the coots ??

So only division losses count ??

Stanford may slip, just by playing Colorado...

Oct 28, 2012, 6:26 PM

It'll be an Auburn-sized anchor on their numbers.

If UF & UGA both lose, USC will be in 3-way tie for East. Thus, it goes to the BCS rank to determine winner meaning if USC beats Arky, they go to Atlanta. But, not likely both would/will lose.

I didn't think the BCS had anything to do with The SEC conference rankings as they pertain to who wins or loses a spot in the SECCG !!

NCSt and Maryland winning would've been better for us***

Posted this in another thread

This is how I see the BCS breaking down at this point with the 10 spots

Auto Qualifiers
SEC Champion
Big 10 Champion
Big East Champion
ACC Champion
Big 12 Champion
PAC 12 Champion
Notre Dame (Top 8 BCS)
Boise State (as long as they finish in the Top 15 ahead of the Big 10/Big East Champ)

This leaves 2 Spots

The selection for the at large this year goes Fiesta, Sugar, Orange. Because the Sugar will lose Alabama to the NC they get the #1 pick and the Rose will get the #2 pick making the order Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange meaning there are 5 at large picks (one of which is the Big East Champ). I think they will look like this.

#1 Notre Dame
#2 SEC Replacement (say UF for right now)
#3 Open Pick
#4 Big East Champ (say Louisville for right now)
#5 Boise State

This gives us

National Championship
Alabama (#1) vs Oregon (#2)

Sugar Bowl
Notre Dame (#1 at large) vs Louisville (#4 at large)

Rose Bowl
Big Ten Champ (no idea at this point) vs Florida (#2 at large unless they opt for a Pac team to replace Oregon which USC would be very likely)

Fiesta Bowl
Kansas State (Big 12 champ) vs #3 At large (this is the spot Clemson would have to compete for)

Orange Bowl
Florida State (ACC Champ) vs Boise State (#5 at large)

So basically right now there are two spots open that will go to SEC #2/ACC #2/Big 12 #2/PAC 12 #2

This is really what needs to happen for Clemson to go to a BCS game since I believe that the SEC #2, Oklahoma, and USC will all be taken in front of an 11-1 Clemson team since the two bowls that will most likely be picking are out west

1. Clemson must win out
2. Boise State must drop a game (not looking likely)
3. Notre Dame must beat USC dropping them out of the BCS Top 12
4. Oklahoma needs to drop another and hopefully the are outside the BCS Top 12
5. SEC needs to clog the top 12 in the BCS standing limiting the at large picks of the BCS games

I do not like our chances at all even at 11-1
