Expectations for the NCAA Tournament and beyond ...

Based on my experience as a life-long Clemson basketball fan, going back to Bobby Roberts in the late 1960s, but especially the last 14 years with Brownell, I expect us to play like crap and get bumped in the first round by a lower seeded team. Then I am fully prepared for Brownell to be given a raise and a five year extension.
I really hate feeling that way, but I have been so beat down and disappointed so many times, I have zero confidence. I would love to have some glimmer of hope, some reason to feel differently, but right now I just don't see it.

Expect the worst and maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Here are the 2 possible ways to get brownl out.
He wins a couple of games and some other team comes shopping for him
Someone finds dirt on his character and he has to exit
Someone go throw a couple skeletons in his closet....

Not much because our “leader” is an absolute loser.
It matters

There is absolutely no reason ever to feel good about a Clemson basketball game. Expect the worst always. Hope for the best. Decades and decades of evidence don’t lie.

the Coots ceiling at Sweet Sixteen. IF early season Clemson shows up, they will exceed that easily. IF LATE season Clemson shows up, Round of 32 could be too generous. Who knows?

I have a feeling we will win the first and then lose in the 2nd round to Baylor.

Neither can I. Would have to hope Colgate can upset them. But we have to beat the Lobos first. Clemson Basketball forever feels like an uphill battle. But one day we will breakthrough.

If CU basketball makes you sad/unhappy, why not ignore it and enjoy the spring sports?
Personally I hope we play well but don’t have expectations.

You mean "pull" as in drag by the leg? I've never seen pessimism like this by peeps who call themselves fans. Freaking Eeyores.

One player, C. Hunter has to have a couple good games. He’s the QB, so to speak, need him to be the spark.

Yeswe really need Chase.

For some reason people complain about PJ & Joe G…even though they were consistently good from a scoring perspective. We really need Chase in double digits, getting to the foul line, etc. And we need a little something offensively from Clark or Wiggins to go along with Clark’s defense. I feel like everything else will take care of itself.

So it's really hard to know what to expect. Typically, when you start believing in them, they lose. When you start dismissing them, they win.

Smiling, sadly, I feel the same way you do! For the most part, Brownell’s Teams are like a Rollercoaster — Up and Down!!!

Did you feel good about our chances in the tournament when OP was the coach? The good news is Brad has actually won a few march madness games….

My dad, who was a very wise man, used to say, “Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he won’t be disappointed.” Regarding Clemson basketball that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be hopeful- but I think we can all agree that we should go into the tournament with low expectations and high hopes. I can see this team making a deep run in the playoffs. But I don’t expect it.

to much inconsistency this year to know what to expect.
For Brad, contract extended to 4 years, not much of a raise as he's still getting a hefty raise next year with his current deal, and the buyout goes up some but not to an unmanageable amount.
For next year? Who will transfer out and in? We'll need guards for sure. Hopefully Godfrey and Wiggins stay. I still question their lack of PT later in the year after how they played in Nov/Dec. We'll need both. We return 1 starter so I expect alot of roster turnover. Need an outstanding portal class.
