I think Michael Penix should win it.
AS you said, ESPN(SEC) point of view will likely mean Daniels. SEC defenses weren't great besides Georgia. So, why give him all that credit.
Penix team and Penix himself handled every big moment. The Heisman trophy winner seems to always have big plays in big games to show. What does Daniels have to show in this department?
Penix has several in games against Oregon.
Daniels had - 3,812 yards 40 TDs 4 int. 95.7 QBR. Penix Had - 4,218 yards 33 TDs 9 int. 83.4 QBR.
Chief difference to me: what Penix did in big games. I thought Jordan Travis outplayed Jayden Daniels head to head. I think if given the chance; Penix would have done the same. Thus, in my opinion it should be Penix.

Selective stats shown and when you add 1134 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns for Daniels it is a no brainer.

I would say selective stats as well in some prior years VD. If that's the case; look back at prior years where a player from another conference not called the sorry excuse conference player had better stats.
Either what you do in big moments is something or "it's not". I do not have a vote VD; but the Heisman voters who do have all at one point in time stated the things they look for. And, doing it when it matters is one of those things. Penix showed up and showed out when the spotlight was on and at it's brightest. Daniels didn't.
It's just that simple.

LSU had no defense. That isn’t Daniels fault. Daniels should win the heisman.

He’s so good that he lost to two teams that did not make the playoff.
LSU could not make the CFB playoffs without him just like they didn’t with him.

This is absolutely WILD to me....first of all, it should go to Jordan Travis. No QB on this earth was apparently as vital to their team as Travis was to FSU. But even if it's not him , Penix should be a no brainer.

Penicillin and Nix’s stats equal or exceed Daniel’s stats for the year and Penix led his team to an undefeated season.

Penix also handled top 10 competition numerous times and remained undefeated while Daniels played a fairly mid schedule and lost 3.
The last 3 loss QB to win the Heisman was Lamar Jackson and in that season jackson amassed 4,928 total yards and 51 TDs. Daniels has only 3,812 (around 1000yds less) and 40 TDs (11 less) .
Daniels doesn't have the stats needed to offset the losses. It should go to Penix who has 4218 yds and 33 TDs and is also UNDEFEATED

Can’t add the rushing numbers for one player and exclude them for another, cmon. Their numbers are almost identical except LJ turned the ball over twice as much. Both Daniels and Penix are deserving this year. I suspect JD wins it but would trade that trophy for Penix’s playoff appearance

That's my fault . I made a mistake when posting Daniels yards as the site I used put up 3812 as total yards
That being said, since precedent has been set with someone like Jackson previously , I could understand him winning it . I do think the undefeated vs 3 loss does matter but either of them would be deserving

My problem with stats doesn’t always tell the story. If your defense sucks and you gotta 40 to win. Other team only needs 21 to win. As a coach you play for the team to win not for your player to win awards.

Award is a joke. Of course the corrupt network is plugging their cash cow conference player. The most outstanding player in the country could not will his team to victory against FSU or Bama. That doesn’t sound too outstanding to me. We’ll see who the most outstanding QB is in May 2024 at the NFL draft. For fun, check out QBs drafted each yr and the order they were drafted. Kind of crazy when you see some of the picks. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/qb

Best draft prospect has no affect on who was the most outstanding player in a particular college football season. By that logic the most outstanding qb is Williams or maye and both of them had 4+ losses that include teams not as good as fsu, Alabama or ole miss, which might not sound too outstanding to you

I think he is saying the nfl looks at who the best player is not the most popular. Meaning the award is a joke. He would be correct. Most years they do not pick the best player at the position not alone the best player in football. If looking at the nfl draft check out how many number 1 draft picks are defensive players. Then look at how many heisman winners played defense.

In the course of the season, and some team that was pretty good, with a player that was waaaaayyy ahead of other players at QB, RB, WR, etc., he was an effective good leader. He would be exceptionally important team, and when this came together, He had a clean line to his Heisman trophy. Now, it so much.
Unless another school had a top tier player at the same position that was better, playing against good quality teams, 90% of the time, there was your Heisman winner.
In my life, I have seen at least 4 players ‘screwed’ out of a Heisman trophy. Trevor Lawrence, Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. Crap DOES happen. Those 4 men did and are doing what they do/did, combined with their high character, hi level of impact on games, so, it is ok. Things even out. But, I am certain that it happened far more than 4.
The QB from LSU can and should win, imho. Who else was more important to his team than a guy who three for over 40 touchdown, plus being near the top in yardage and scoring.

group of Heisman slights. I would agree about his dad and his brother both being more than Heisman worthy, but Eli, meh, not so much. He only finished THIRD in the voting one year, 2003, behind the winner, Jason White, AND the runner up, one Larry Fitzgerald. If anybody would have had an argument that year, it would have been Larry.

I listen to a handful of CFB podcasts (none are affiliated with espn) and everyone thinks Daniels is the best player in the country and deserves the Heisman.
Remember, the Heisman is supposed to go to the best player in CFB, not the best player on a playoff team. It isn't Daniels' fault that his defense was atrocious all year. This notion that the Heisman winner can't be on a team with more than 1 loss is silly.
I don't recall everyone being irate about the Cy Young winner not being on an MLB playoff team and I'm pretty sure that happens all of the time.

He wasn't doing much stat padding like some guys. Nearly all of his yards and touchdowns were meaningful with the game still in the balance. When you have a terrible defense there's alot of pressure to score every time you have the ball.
It probably does lead to his total numbers being a little higher just due to more usage, but you can still look at his per carry and per attempt numbers and they are equally (if not more) ridiculous. 11.7 ypa is about as high as you will ever see (higher than 2019 burrow) and 8.4 ypc is far more than Vick, Manziel, or Lamar averaged. 50 total TDs with just only INTs is just stupid good.

And if that D wasn’t so bad they would probably be undefeated and in the playoff so he would likely get that boost if there was a little drop off in stats due to him sitting out more 4th quarters, etc.

It became obvious he would win it when Oregon (and Bo Nix) lost to UW the second time. Even if Oregon had won that game, Daniels would have remained the favorite for the Heisman.
The order of finish for the 3 QBs will be Daniels, Penix, Nix. MHJ will finish 4th.
