Paino at third or maybe battle for a corner outfield spot. However we’ve got 2 really good freshman left side infielders coming in (if they make it to campus), that could very well battle for PT.

Bakich is doing what he has to do. A couple more pitchers and outfielders will do it.

Agree; Castellani, Clavon, Fultz battling for 3B, and Lichtenberger, Clavon, and Kilby (if he makes it to campus) battling for SS. I’m sure McCladdie will be fighting for a spot but probably more so to scoot Purify over to SS.
At least we’ll have younger guys battling for spots rather than just handing the job off to a senior that may or may not perform. We’ll get the best of the best this year.

I don’t disagree, I think his best shot of starting is in the outfield at this point, although he’d be the the most experienced MIF behind Purify. That’s also dependent on Wideman transferring in and how they value Wentworth and Crighton. A lot of moving parts and positional battles which might be good for the team.

Mcladdie is awful to the OF. He better off trying to earn a position in the IF. He can’t read a ball at all.

It shouldn't be about "who does he replace?" The goal should be to acquire as many valuable pieces as they can in order to become as deep as possible. This team needs better hitting overall, so the objective is to bring in as many good hitters as they can, preferably those who also play good defense. We don't need to worry about exact defensive positions or lineups yet; that will all sort itself out. It's a long offseason. Just load up with as many good position players as possible so that you have enough pieces to work with once the highly variable season starts.
And fortunately, in the cases of both Clavon and Lichtenberger, they each appear to be good defensive shortstops and very athletic overall, which should open up lots of options for where they could play in the field, which is the whole idea.
And yes, obviously they need to continue getting more pitchers, too. Both areas need improvement.

Bakich is doing a full on rebuild. No one's job is safe.

I mean, I’m fine with a lineup rebuild. It felt like the only people that could hit in our lineup was Cam and Dom. The rest of them couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn at times, especially Paino.

I think you nailed it. Outside of Purify and maybe Jarrell… whose job should be safe? I think that’s basically the only two guys who can feel confident about having a place in the lineup next year. So let’s bring in as many impact pieces as we can and let these guys battle it out.

I sure hope that is indeed the case after the way the season ended at home in a Regional and then yet another season not making it to the College World Series.Something has to change and that is for sure, because it has got to become more than just making it to a Regional and only making 1 Super Regional in the last 15 seasons

I believe Gaffney and the guy from Michigan that transferred in whose name is slipping my mind will bounce back. Not only were they fighting the sophomore slump but moving way up in competition. If they stick around I believe they'll get better. I believe Bakich is heck bent on getting the Tigers back to Omaha WAY sooner than later. I think this kid is going to probably be put in center to start. Need some more arms. Need another sure starter and a couple back end guys. Thank the big man upstairs they FINALLY can give guys a full ride. The fact the NCAA hendered college baseball with the 11.7 is flabbergasting while allowing private and large endowment schools to skirt the rule.

This is a huge get. If we were bringing this kid in as a freshman we’d all be talking about how we “can’t wait for Clavon to get here.” I didn’t see a ton of Georgia baseball games this year but him not starting this year at shortstop doesn’t mean much because Tre Phelps is one of the best shortstops in America, so there’s a log jam infront of Clavon. I’m fired up that we can go get a player of this caliber that also isn’t just a one year rental.

I'm surprised that the write-up didn't state what his draft status was. You would think a pg AA and a 10 rating, along with #2 ranked ss , he'd have up in the draft. What was his recruiting rank? Was he a top 50 or top 100 guy...
Not trying to be a negative Nancy but I've yet to get a warm and fuzzy over any transfers that Bakich has brought in... either with multiple years or one year rental.
Been excited for two years with all the hype over kid x either transfer or recruit. Samol was all the rage (game changer - not my words, but coaches) got several chances and mostly tossed BP. Love the coach. Believe in his assistants until he says otherwise, but it's time to produce.

He wasn’t listed in the top 300 draft prospects on MLB.com for last year, but he was 192 according to PG. He also attended the draft combine, but didn’t receive a ranking (200 looks to be the lowest) which either meant he was hurt or didn’t do well. Either way, that might’ve dropped his draftability to teams and led him to Georgia.
Looks like a great prospect, it looks like he was just blocked by more experienced players in Kolby Branch, Ryan Black, Christian Adams, and Slate Alford (their best player). At the very least, he provides competition and depth to the roster.

Yes, I do too. RREnglish has been adding a lot of good baseball material. A lot of you have. Much appreciated because unless you subscribe to the baseball sites, most information is behind pay walls. Thanks again.
Side note: go coastal. Hard to believe that was the first super regional Auburn had hosted. The sec hype machine was at its finest this baseball season.
