I still can’t get over that long pass play where he had a step on the defender and pulled up. What’s worse is that the safety almost made it an interception.
Was a total lack of effort play.

That was a touchdown, if not even just getting us 1st and goal. Same thing with Randall’s lack of effort, and Williams losing the ball in the endzone (which would have been negated by a penalty any way).
Cade did what he needed to do to help us win that game. He can’t catch his own passes. His worst decision was the first play.

Yeah, but his father (RIP) played with Dabo at Alabama. He'd probably never see the field if he wasn't on the friends & family plan. His only other FBS offer was from the University of Buffalo.

Almost every play, Georgia’s defense smothering all of our passing options and sometimes the extra defenders are sitting in a spot where they know the receivers are headed and waiting for them. So, maybe CK2 is not as bad as I initially though when casually watching the game. It sure seems that either our receivers are not athletic enough to get open or we got way outcoached and Georgia was fully prepared for everything we would do. Sure seems like they played man coverage on almost every passing play. Could be both (lack of athletic explosiveness and we got outcoached). None of those plays were easy, compared to Georgia where they had speedy receivers drag across the middle untouched several times. Happy to have this game behind us and hope the team can regroup quickly.
Go Tigers!

That was painful to watch. Even worse, I suspect Dabo to come out vs. App St. with Turner/Stellato starting once AGAIN over Wesco/Moore. What's the definition of insanity again? Those two combined for one catch for one yard vs. Jawja. Unacceptable. I don't agree with Roddy White and his stupid Twitter comments--but putting the racial element aside, those two are NOT elite WR's. Period. He has a point.
We may well beat App State, but I don't think we cover the spread.

Cade made throws to give us opportunities to win the game. Way too many mistakes at WR. Big plays negated by procedure penalties, WRs quitting on open routes or dropping the ball, WRs not running routes to the first down marker on 3rd down, Saddler missing one block on the QB sneak, etc. Also, what is with the WRs catching the ball and cutting back the opposite direction? Williams and Brown both did it. Is that something they’re being taught to do?! RUN. UP. FIELD.
We have got to put the best players in the field from the start. I just cannot see Wesco or Moore performing worse than how Randall and Turner did.
To me, Cade’s main mistakes were the miss to Mafah on play one, not taking a shot on the offsides penalty, and too many check downs. Not sure what the reason for the third one is, but that’s gotta stop.

Some positives can be seen, oline held up much better than last year against an amazing dline. Cade didn’t melt down into a total disaster. He wasn’t great but he was ok. The receiver play was criminal, Turner and Randal should be a rotational player that’s all. We threw Cade out there with basically only two relievers on any play. 0 and 9 were his only options. He wasn’t great but hard to put that on Cade.

Cade also blew some PRO's when we actually had a chance to score but settled for a FG. He always rushes things. He just doesn't process things well in game situations. O Line was the lone bright spot on the offense. But that begs the question: We have a great proven O Line coach so why do we have an unproven WR coach with little / no coaching experience?

You’re right time to clear out Grisham and for that matter Richardson. Both should be analyst at best, we need real experience at every coaching position until we have an offense.

I'll give Dabo credit for firing Austin and hiring Luke. Good move and good hire. We saw the improved play at O Line against #1 Jawja. Hard to complain about their performance. But Dabo should have fired Grisham the same time he fired Austin. That was a big mistake keeping him on the staff.

I think WR coach would make a massive difference. Regardless of how critical some might be of Cade’s performance, he was handicapped by having only two reliable guys in 0 and 9. 6 not being targeted until the second half is flat out stupid. 1 and 12 not getting targets until down by 28 is not just stupid, it’s nuckin’ futs.
If we want Cade to have actual chances at making plays, he needs 4 guys on the field he can actually throw to.

We also had guys running routes short of the sticks on 3rd down. Did you notice that? Unacceptable for a P5 team to have WR's doing that. Unacceptable. That's coaching, pure and simple. Or bad coaching, rather.

Another thing is I remember at least twice wr’s catching the ball and going backwards trying to make something happen. Cade corrected 6 when he did it. I believe 0 may have been the other but it actually worked out for him. Either way in a game where you have under 200 yards of offense you can’t give up a single yard.

I see a bunch of receivers running routes in the same area. This allows the defense to collapse. We are not spreading out creating 1vs1 matchups.

Good point. I noticed that too. That means either a) the play design is crappy or b) receivers are running the wrong routes. I'm guessing b). That's particularly maddening because Jawja was playing man coverage the entire night. Daring us to throw over the top. And we never did.

Man coverage, press coverage, up at the line of scrimmage, because they (and all our upcoming opponents) know we cannot throw down field accurately inconsistently.
If Cade does throw down field, it’s a high arching wounded duck that takes so long to get there. Any DB in the field could catch up and run under it.

OK, thank you for posting.
Film matches my recollection of the game watching from the 15 yard line.
Cole Turner should sit on the bench.
We should throw to briningstool at least 10 times a game. Half of those should be thrown beyond the sticks. This will result in many more offensive plays.
Dawg DBs play press coverage up on line scrimmage almost every play, except until the fourth quarter when they figure Cade might throw downfield a bit.
When cade throws down field his accuracy plummets, very often under throwing the receiver. Aside from 35 yard pass to Antonio down left side line, his accuracy downfield was poor. On downfield passes the ball takes too long to get there.
He’s pretty accurate with short passing game. But the entire defense except one safety plays up close, so never any substantial yards after catch. We were often third and eight, we throw a 6 yard pass they tackle us, now fourth and one. Punt.
It doesn’t take a fantastically talented defense to defend Clemson‘s current, passing attack and running attack. Bank on the fact that most deep balls are going to take a long time to get there, safety can run under it, likely underthrown, etc etc. Let Cade throw lots of 5 yard passes.
And don’t tell me we didn’t score because of mistakes and penalties. We had three penalties in this game. Good teams and good quarterbacks have a couple drives per game ended purely because of mistakes and penalties. Then they follow those dead drives with touchdown drives.DW4 Would throw an INT and follow that with a couple TD drives.
Cade’s gonna continue w short passing game and we gonna have lots of 3rd and 8.
We’re gonna play more one score games than we would if we had a QB that could throw down field accurately inconsistently and open up some space for our receivers and running backs.

Watching this actually makes me feel a little better. We aren't close to being where we need to be against top teams, but the offense should look much better in the weeks ahead. Had too many mistakes on offense early, which led the team to press.

Only 2 concepts to attack the middle of the field, spacing and I saw a levels concept one time.
Playcalling was a disaster and wr play was in shambles. Cade didn't look bad until he started trying to force it deep in the 4th. Imagine if Randall doesn't get a penalty to kill a drive that's likely 3. And then Williams catches that TD that WAS perfectly thrown with anticipation. The ref picking up the flag when the dB was face guarding Randall was also huge. Either way UGA was better coached and was going to win but man it could've looked more respectable.

Grisham has got to go. Poor effort execution simple things not being done right. Thank goodness Antonio fell into our laps...and didn't hold a grudge for this staff being so slow to recruit him. By far the only wr that should be starting on a P5 team.

We had very little separation and overall WR play was poor. Turner should be sitting the bench.
CK needs to work on the deep ball. Underthrew all of them. Other than the Ist pass to Mafah he looked good in short to intermediate throws into tight coverage.
This makes me hit the pause button on Klubnik criticism.

I'm starting to think Klubnik expects his wr to turn and come back or fight through traffic to those balls. He only had one under throw that was inside the others were potential catches if the wr positions himself better. I'm not back to saying Cade will be a great QB here but he was not the issue like many are saying.

My observations after watching that. CK has the physical skills to make the throws. Game seems a little fast for him though. Many open receivers but still checked it down. Overall scheme/play calling is not good. Especially on third down. Cole Turner needs to watch from the sidelines.

Most of the under throws were off his back foot. He waits too long to get the ball out on the deep throw and usually has a pass rusher in his face or close by so he either makes a jump to throw over them or plants his back foot with no follow through. He has the arm strength but his footwork and delays getting the ball out hurt him passing downfield. When he steps into a throw he is on target.
I don’t see the QB and WR in sync on timing routes. Cade rarely throws the ball before or at the break except on short routes. The pass to A Williams was pretty. We need more of that.
