I live to make cobblers with several different fruits depending on what we're in the mood for, but blackberry is our favorite. What's left of yours looks great!

I lovem so much, I live in the briar patches last of June/ first of July. My daddy taught me how to wade in the briars 70 years ago. He would send me in first, using my old double barrel as a pusher. If I came on the point first had to wait on him cause he knew I couldn't cut a feather. Always put 3 or 4 of these in the freezer so I'll have pie this fall.

Sounds familiar. There was also silver finger polish for the chigger bites. And the fear of snakes as a kid, but I was always prepared to run.

The Lord has blessed us with a huge blackberry crop this year. We've froze a bunch for future use and canned several gallons of jam.

But I haven’t found a wild patch since I moved from Sumter many moons ago. As a kid, we’d pick blackberries and swap them for baseballs!!! Dad thought we should pick them for our neighbors “to be nice” . . . He didn’t like us selling them.
So being the young entrepreneurs we were, we would swap them for new, in the box, baseballs. 1/2 gallon = 1 baseball . . . The neighbors were happy, Simpson’s Hardware (source of our baseball endeavor) was happy, we were happy and most importantly, Dad was happy!!!
In lew of blackberry cobbler, we dined on fresh peach cobbler this weekend . . . With Turkey Hill Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream!!!
Thanks for the memories 2k® !!!

I hear you Skeeta56® I live about 2hrs west of you in the foothills. The pic is standing on my front porch, looking west. That 20 acre field across the road don't belong to me but the owner is a good neighbor like most Cackalackians. He lets me mow that part you see for my dogs (little house dogs) to have a place to run. The rest is overgrown with butt-tons of blackberries. That dead stuff in the foreground was once green grass, yes we need rain badly

BAM Tiger95 knows whut he's talkin bout!!! It's wild to me that the berries start out on the top and just ooze all the way through.

Like Smiling Tiger said, gotta have the vanilla ice cream to go with it.
And you reminded me of childhood growing up in the little town of Central 5 miles from Clemson. I loved riding my bike with the banana seat and the high handlebars. Would carry a couple of buckets on the handlebars to a blackberry patch about a mile down the road at least once a week during the summers, bring home the harvest, and mom would make cobblers.
One time, I brought home a bunch, went out to mow the lawn while mom made pies, and came back in to see that they were consumed by my siblings. I was so mad, I had to go back the next day to get some more. Had my first taste of Red Man Chewing Tobacco at that blackberry briar patch. Got so sick, the mile bike ride back home seemed like 5 miles. Only ever tried it once again with the same result.
Thanks 2k® for the trip down memory lane
